159. Mar. 29: I filled in for Katie Batz with warming up the little kids with music on Sunday mornings at church.
As I mentioned it's Katie's thing, but she was out of town, and asked if I would do it, and so I did. The kids were cute, if not rambunctious. It was only like ten minutes. And then I did it again this week, because she was out of town again. They were a little more wild this time. Seems like the kind of thing I would be too shy to do, even though it's just little kids. Even though I've already done it "again" I would do it again.

Take me down alleys where the murders are done
158. Mar. 28: I performed a Psychology experiment.
Mari and I did an experiment on our friends testing confidence levels. We gave them a crossword puzzle labeled either easy, or difficult, and let them work on it while we "set up the experiment." What we didn't tell them was that both the puzzles were the same level, and what they thought was easy was really difficult. So our point was to shatter, or boost, their confidence level, depending on the puzzle they chose. Then we'd give them the Pepsi Challenge, but they didn't pick their favorite, they had to tell us which one was Pepsi. Then they'd take a survey afterwards rating how confident they were that they chose correctly. We hypothesized that the easy puzzlers would have lower confidence, and difficult puzzlers would have regular, to high confidence. And we were right. Very interesting experiment, I thought.

They're so spaced out
157. Mar. 27: I tried the 10 calorie Vitamin Water.
Hear me out. I've been a little in a protest of Vitamin water ever since I realized that it's not as healthy as you'd believe. Sure, it's got all those vitamins. But it's got a ton of calories per bottle. And I don't like to drink high calorie drinks. I mean, I might as well eat a bowl of chips at that rate. Anyways, so I tried the Lemonade flavor, because I've always been fond of it, and it tasted fine. A little less sweet, which I'm always a fan of. So, I'd recommend that anyone who loves Vitamin Water, switch off to the 10 calorie version. Which is actually 25 for the whole bottle, but not that bad.

The Eye of the Tiger
Wow, it's been a long time. Seriously, we all know me promising it won't happen again won't do anything.
156. Mar. 26: In protest of the cold weather, I wore my swim suit under my clothes to school.
It felt so nice to put my swim suit on, even though I knew I was not going to be swimming. Although, I was pretty uncomfortable the whole day, I still wore it with pride. If I hadn't forgot to bring my camera to school, I would post a picture, but I did, so I won't.

WTF, mates?
155. I completed 7 online health assignments in a day.
This kind of seems like a lot, but it really isn't, especially since they all still need to be graded, as well as some assignments I did earlier this week. Hopefully that will boost my percentage, and get me closer to 70. I'll probably end up doing like 10 assignments tomorrow night, and try to just finish it all up. I'll be happy when I'm completely done with all of this.

Smoke and Mirrors
154. I played "The Wikipedia Game"
Molly and I were bored in the Mac Lab, adn she said we should play the Wikipedia Game, which I'd never played before. So what you do is go to Wikipedia, select a word, or thing, I suppose, and then go to a random article, and see who can get to the page with the word on it first without typing anything. So, you can only use the links on the pages. I had a hard time, I lost both times we played. The words were Spinach and Manatee. I'm not entirely convinced that Molly didn't just make up that game. We'll see.

Gestalt Theory
Totally out of the blue:
153. Mar. 23: I looked up on Wikipedia, the Hatfield-McCoy fued.
I've never ever known what this is, and nevertheless have used it as a reference point on many occasions. The article happened to be very dry, so I don't feel completely enriched on the subject, but apparently, one of their earliest fueds was over the ownership of a hog, or something of that sort. They later got into many more arguments, involving inter-clan partner stealing, I think. Honestly, I didn't set out to be an expert. And obviously, that didn't happen. I can't even say whether those "facts" up there are correct. I wouldn't suggest you quote me on them-- but I can't stop you from turning this blog into a "learning moment."

152. Mar. 22: I payed full price for something at J. Crew.
Love the crew though I certainly do, I do not pay for things full price at what they charge. Heavens, I would depress myself. So, this means I never really get to get things I really like, and it's one of those admire from afar sort of things. So, when I got $65 worth of giftcards towards there for Christmas, I got really excited. But, until now, I hadn't used them. I got a t-shirt, which you can get a lot of mileage out of, and i most certainly can. I would post a picture, but I can't find it on the website. It's white with a gold fish. I reminded me of something you could buy at the lodge at Crow Wing, if J. Crew where making their t-shirts.

The One With All the Other Ones
I'm not really into blogging/doing new things this week. Can you tell?
151. Mar. 21: I went to a state high school basketball game where my team won.
Yeah, we could talk about technicalities, but I was super excited about this. I didn't go to the game two year ago, where the beloved tigers lost to Central, and last year I went and cheered my heart out, but we lost, but this year we won, and I was so happy! Obviously, it's a thing about school pride, and the games are pretty fun, I have to admit. I just wish I would have gone to one during the regular season. Whiiich, totally could have been my new thing one day, but it's too late for that now. So, I'm very proud of the lady tigers. That team is the highlight of our whole school, I assure you.

All's Well That Ends Well
150. Mar. 20: I saw Much Ado About Nothing.
I had a really hard time understanding what was going on at first, because I didn't even know what it was about, and there was somesort of puppet motif in the beginning that I didn't quite understand. And a certain lesser plotline was completely lost on me, because someone who I affectionately refer to as "the crazy kid" (he really is) doesn't know how to speak normally. Like either really loud, shouting, fast, or quiet and fast, or just really messed up. So, I wouldn't say that it was my favorite Shakespeare, but it was pretty good. I probably enjoyed it more because of the people who were the principle actors.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
This one is kind of weird, but I happened to do it, and it happened to be new:
149. Mar. 19: I peeled and sliced an avocado.
Messiest thing ever. I love avocados, but I think I would prefer to have someone else cut them for me. It would yield better results.

Paul's Case
148. I called 867-5309.
I had the intention of asking for Jenny, but I was greeted by a recording from Jenny herself, and it was really a cheap ruse of an advertisement for Benjamin Franklin Plumbing, or something of the sort. So, alas, I didn't get to make the oldest prank phone call in the book, but I did try. I'm one phone call wiser.

Love is an exploding cigar we willingly smoke
I don't have a whole lot of amazingness to show for myself.
147. Mar. 17: I watched The Real Housewives of New York City on the night it airs.
As in, I've never watched an episode before the night it premieres, only in re-runs. Real Housewives of NYC is my guilty pleasure that I actually don't feel guilty in the slightest for liking. It's not like Housewives of OC or Atlanta. They're really trashy. New York is actually a lot classier. I mean come on, half the season takes place in the Hamptons. I don't mind most of the women on it, either. Except for LuAnn, she is the greatest charlatan to ever walk this earth. But the point is, I don't feel lame for liking it.
This might interest a small crowd. I found it while I was feeling homesick for Crow Wing this afternoon. Beth Gauper wrote it, so obviously it's from the first hand perspective. This warm weather is about the time every year I start to get really antsy..

Zephyr
I was seriously racking my brain for a creative one today, but I just wasn't coming up with any. I know this wasn't really a serious suggestion, but:
146. I created an Amazon wish list.
And they have my blog's interest in mind, too-- they made sure to let me know it was my FIRST Amazon wish list. So far, I added a Billy Joel t-shirt, and season four of Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. I plan to add much, much more.

Fred Jones, pt. 2
145. I planted some little kitchen herbs.
I was at Ikea today with Lizzie and we went to the "Green Room" at my insistence, and I saw little kitchen herb kits, and I've always wanted to do that, so I thought why not? I got Basil, because it's the best thing in the world, and I planted it earlier this evening.

So, I look forward to having some fresh basil in the next 10-12 weeks. That should be enough time to enjoy it, right? I suggest that everyone does this, there's nothing wrong with fresh kitchen herbs. The little plastic kit is only $3.99.
So, as I mentioned I went to Ikea today with Lizzie, and then we decided to go to Target as well, and I did a little looking around, and found a swimsuit that I'll probably get for this year, even though I still have two perfectly good ones from last year still. I don't mind having a lot of variety. It's probably making up for the lack of variety of swim suits in my "youth". Then I looked arond the movie section and made a mental note of all the movies I want to buy. It's a lot.
Then Caroline and I went on a walk after dinner to Washburn Water Tower. We discovered it about a year and a half ago, and now we like to go there from time to time. Meaning, not really enough. It's a nice little walk. It was a good cardio work-out, because it's so hill-y and tangletown-y. Eugh, tangletown..
So, it was a quaint little day, I suppose. Very nice weather, and it's suppose to be 60 tomorrow! Holla. That should be awesome. I'm super excited for this weather. If I hadn't already been listening to Billy Joel, I would totally start now, because warm weather is my Billy Joel cue. It reminds me of the cabin, and gets me all jazzed.

144. I drank Green Tea.
It was okay, I'm not usually a huge fan of tea. It tasted a lot like straight up Earl Grey. It made me feel kind of sick afterwards, too.
I'm not tired at all right now. Usually after SNL I don't have a huge problem getting to sleep, but I slept till 1 today, so it's gonna be awhile. There's nothing worse than being bored and wide awake.

The Creative Habit
143. I hula hooped for an hour straight.
But it's not just the average hula hoops, it's an excercise one. It's super heavy duty. And it hurts a lot, if you're not used to it. I hadn't used it in like 6 months, so it was awful at first. And then it was fine, but then it hurt, because my skin was dry. I suggest if someone else ever does this make sure you watch something entertaining. I threw on a little season 2 of 21 Jumpstreet. Oh, Officer Tom Hanson...What an ace. Anyways, my skin hurt like mad afterwards, like I'd just been sunburn, and it felt super weird to walk. I'm gonna feel super bruised tomorrow. But it's good excercise. It's actually kind of fun, just not if you do it for an hour. I'll stick to 30 minutes at a time.
On another note, I'm still going strong on giving up pop for lent. I don't know if I've ever made it this far on pop. Last year with Diet Coke and Lays Chips wasn't too bad, but all pop was murder for the first couple of days. I was really tired, and thirsty. But I'm actually enjoying not drinking pop now. But practically every night this week I've had a dream where I'm drinking pop and I start freaking out. Like I have this half drunk can in my hand and I think "how I do I keep letting this happen?"
Also speaking of dreams, I had a dream a few nights ago that I was hanging out with Billy Joel, but it was circa Piano Man, and we dueted on "A Whole New World" because he didn't have anyone for the ladie's part. It was pretty awesome.

It could be worse, I could be alone
142. I recycled with NHS.
Even if you're not in NHS, you can recycle with them, and I kind of always wanted to, because I like recycling, and you get out of class, and I don't what it is, the recyclers always seemed cool for some reason. But it's hard, and the bin is really creaky, and you have to sort out all of the trash that might be in there, and you can't put the newspapers in there, because those get picked up separately, and it's just like distributing for newspaper, if you're not organized, you don't know where anyone has been. So, I don't think I will be doing it again unless they really need people, but now I know, right?

Treasure Mathstorm!
Things I learned this week:
1. Having a dark backround on any website (blog!) that you may have is more eco-friendly because it requires less energy to project. In fact googling twice requires as much energy as it does to heat a cup of tea. I learned that from Seventeen magazine.
So, I guess that should be "thing" I learned this week.
I feel like people are losing interest in this blog. Fast. Besides the obvious 1.) Update more frequently (I'm trying this week, I really am) and 2.) Do cooler stuff (I don't feel like I have to explain myself on this one) what can I do to generate more interest within my, what I'm sure are few, blog followers. I lack creativity for things such as these.

141. I ushered at church
I never knew how, and always thought it looked really confusing, so I never really wanted to do it. But, I guess it's pretty easy, so I won't be "scared" to do it anymore. Good for me.

I Promise to Love You
139. I clipped coupons.
Pretty self explanatory. My mother, sister and I were going out to buy Caroline some groceries, and I wanted to clip coupons since I'd never done it before, and we saved like 10 bucks because of them. Pretty useful, but I don't think I have to tell anyone that twice.

2001: A Space Odyssey
138. I learned the Greek Alphabet.
Alpha Beta Gamma Delta Epsilon Zeta Eta Theta Iota Kappa Lambda Mu Nu Xi Omicron Pi Rho Sigma Tau Upsilon Phi Chi Psi Omega
Thats not to say that I didn't just copy that down from somewhere, but I did write it from memory, I swear. I recited it to my mother right after I learned it, so she will attest.
It's probably very useful to know the greek alphabet, so I hope I don't forget it at all. I'll have to keep practicing.

Get behind me, Satan!
137. Mar. 7: I watched Raging Bull.
It has always seemed like this great piece of film that I had never seen, but must, because it's one of the greats. And it was great, but not amazing. It was really well directed (though, not as good as Goodfellas) and Robert DeNiro was very good. But not very attractive when he gained 60 pounds. Now, I need to watch Taxi Driver, and I'll be able to tide myself over.
This past week, I've been so obsessed with Indiana Jones, it's crazy. It always seems to come in phases with those movies. It all started when we were talking about optical ilusions in Psychology, and whenever anybody talks about optical illusions, I think about the part near the end of The Last Crusade when Indy has to take the "leap of faith", and then the stone walkway appears beneath his feet, as sort of an optical illusion. Yeah, well so, I've been watching Last Crusade a lot, but I keep falling asleep, but then I was babysitting Sig and Stellan on thursday night, and they wanted to watch it! I didn't even influence them. I'm getting pretty good at getting them to share my tastes. Although, I need'nt be reminded 100 times that "oh yeah, that guy melts at the end, yeah he's the bad guy." Got it. But then I watched Raiders of the Lost Ark yesterday, and then Temple of Doom while I was cleaning my room.
But, as I expected to happen, I'm also really obsessed with Billy Joel, and Movin' Out. I've been trying to perfect Scenes from an Italian Restaurant on the piano like a madman, and I can't stop thinking of how amazing the dancing was in the show. I just think people who aren't fans of Billy Joel are crazy. But I respect their choice...I suppose..

Plan 9 From Outer Space
136. Mar. 6: I saw Movin' Out.
I was so incredibly excited when I heard it was coming to town, you don't even know. I love love love Billy Joel, and I have the Movin' Out piano book, and I've wanted to see it for years. It was so great. It was like a Rock Opera. Think Mamma Mia, but without dialogue. The dancing was really great, and who doesn't just want to listen to Billy Joel songs for like 2 hours? The guy doing Eddie was so incredible, if I were a guy, I would want to dance just like that. Or at all, since I'm not a dancer. As I've said before, I wish I were a dancer, but I'm pretty clumsy. Plus, a lot of their bodies are really stupid looking. I do not want to be skin and bones, or super muscular. Grody. So, I'm going to try and make a point of seeing it again any chance I get. I would reccomend it to any Billy Joel fans. Or anyone, I suppose, but I guess it probably sweetens the deal if you're a fan of Billy Joel.
I also went to Jane's birthday party yesterday, which was fun, but me and Lizzie were 3 hours late, so we didn't get to do paint a plate. The reason we were 3 hours late was because I was going to get a ride with Lizzie, but she was going to go at like 3:30, because she had to work. But then we didn't get to leave until about 4, and the paint a plate place was on Grand Ave., and neither us of knew how to get ther from Turtle, let alone to St. Paul. So, we went all around trying to find Grand, and we eventually found it, but prett much everyone else was done. I'm not blaming Lizzie at all, because neither of us had any idea where we were going, but I was sad that we had to miss some of the party. But then we ate Davanni's, and she opened presents, and we played Tabboo, but then I got picked up to see Movin' Out.

Somewhere in the world right now, it's breakfast time
135. Mar. 5: I watched a video or Ms. Matera doing a quiz bowl type of thing in High School that was broadcasted on T.V. in Kentucky.
So, that seems a little long winded, but all of us on the editorial staff love it when Ms. Matera shows us anything from her personal life, so we absolutely loved it when she brought in a DVD of a quiz bowl type of show she did in high school. She had long hair, and her southern accent was much thicker. It was hilarious. Although, it distracted us from working on the paper...

134. Mar. 4: I woke myself up and went to school on the bus.
Dudesie went to New York that morning, and Mother didn't want to have to wake me up or drive me to school because she had to take him to the airport. If anyone knows me, I cannot wake up. Ever. Especially in time to make the bus. I got there in ample time. I was waiting by the bus stop for about 10 minutes, because I forgot what time it came, and I didn't want to miss it. So, I had to sacrifice breakfast for that one. But in the end, I was very proud of myself.

133. Mar. 3: I ate lunch at the MIA.
I've always wanted to, but I'm often there on field trips, and I don't get chance. It just seems so quaint to eat lunch at a museum. It reminds me of when I was at the Louvre and I got food at one of the cafes there. But anyways, the MIA has D'Amico food which is awesome, so I got a sandwich and San Pelligrino Lemonade. It's one of life's simplest pleasures to feel a little fancy.

132. Mar. 2: I watched two John Woo films in one day.
We had just started our John Woo unit in Film Studies and we started The Killer, and then when I got home later, I was watching Bravo, and Windtalkers was on, which is also John Woo, so I was like whoa, I should totally watch this. I don't like Windtalkers as much as The Killer. He is much better with his Hong Kong cinema for sure. You can get away with a certain level of cheesiness, that you can't get away with in Hollywood.

131. Mar. 1: I saw a Dudesie original play performed at a different location than DLLC.
Kyrstin Gustafson's church in Forest Lake was doing a production of Elijah and the Prophets. It was pretty dece I suppose, it was only their first time ever doing a play there. They definitely seemed more prepared than we usually are....

130. Feb. 28: I waited tables with my good buddy Stellan.
It could have been a disaster, but he was very well behaved. I kind of immediately regretted choosing Stellan because of that, but it wasn't too bad.

129. Feb. 27: I was a senior in the Church musical.
Emily had suggested this one awhile back, and I decided to use it, because I didn't really get a chance to do anything else new that day.

Wow, I'm sorry. This is getting bad. I'm sure other people can relate, some times you just get burned out on blogging. It's hard to do it everyday!
128. Feb. 26: I got the highest score in the class on a test.
Alright...granted it was my Psychology class which has, count 'em, 5 people, but it totally still counts. I'm a little awesome at that class, I must say.

127. Feb. 25: I took medicine at school.
I was in really bad shape, Mari supplied the medicine. I've never been the type of person to carry medicine with me everywhere, especially not school. I should probably change that.
This marks my first day of giving up pop for lent.

126. I updated my blog 10 times in a day.
You may have noticed I did spread some things out. I had to make all of those posts up from before, and then when I got home I realized I had forgotten to do something new today because I was busy this evening, so I thought I'd look through and see how many times I've updated in a day before and the number to beat was nine. So, sorry about the sudden influx.

Stand With Me
I want to let everyone know that the annual DLLC musical is coming up this weekend. We are doing two one-act musicals back to back, both written by my father.
The performances are Friday, Feb 27th at 7:00, and Saturday Feb 28th, with a matinee at 2:00, and there's a dinner show that night with dinner at 6:00, and the show at 7:00. If you want to go to the show on Saturday night, I don't think you have to go to the dinner portion. If you want to come but don't feel like reserving tickets ahead of time, I would advise you attend the 2:00 matinee, it is usually in low attendance, and won't sell out.
If you want to come to one of the evening shows but do not reserve tickets, you may want to show up earlier rather than later. I don't know how many tickets will be left those nights. Let me know if you have questions.
The address of the Diamond Lake Lutheran Church is 5760 Portland Avenue South, Minneapolis.

Running Down a Dream
I'm currently obsessed with the Oscars, and essentially all things film related. Since the Oscar season got me so jazzed, I've been super into movies right now, especially really good ones. But also in this Oscar season, I got a little fed up with constantly having to be intellectually engage during a movie. Don't get me wrong, I loved a lot of the Oscar noms this year, but I also took time out of my schedule to see He's Just Not That Into You twice, and when I saw Yes Man, that was a nice break, and I plan on seeing other easy movies soon.
Also ever since my Film Studies class started I've been able to appreciate film more, and understand a directors motive when they do something a certain way. I also can recognize all the techniques. I was watching The Shining a couple of weeks ago, and I had never noticed before how well directed it was, and how thoughtful it was. I really like being able to notice those things.
I guess I could also say that I'm obsessed with Martin Scorsese as well. We just finished watching Goodfellas in film studies class, which I had seen before, but I was like 13, so I didn't appreciate it that much back then. But it is just such a good movie. Fricken Dances With Wolves had to steal the Oscar from it, didn't it? But anyways, he's just such a cool guy. I really want to rent and watch a lot more of his movies now, because I haven't seen too many. And that includes The Depaaated.

125. Feb. 23: I cooked this pasta dish I love all by myself.
I made it for my birthday as well, but since I was making a double batch, I needed some help. It's the most amazing pasta, and it's so simple. Garlic, Olive Oil, Cherry Tomatoes, Basil, Fresh Mozzarella, and Pasta. So great. So so great.
I could also say that I gave blood without nearly fainting for the first time. It took forever, so I just posse'd on up to class, and I didn't wait around. They were using the blood busses this time, so I imagine that's why it went a little slower. I do really like giving blood, but I hate the aftermath on my arm. I don't like seeing the little hole. Plus, they couldn't find my vein right away, so they had to dig around with the needle. Ewww.... But the guy who was drawing my blood was really hilarious, so that made me a little more at ease. I just don't like the feeling of the needle going in. But I would suggest that anyone who is able to give blood, because if you are able, there is no reason not to. It's awesome, and it totally doesn't hurt that much. I think some people are just kind of wimpy when it comes to giving blood. But that's a really stupid excuse when you think about the fact that you could save 3 lives. Some people need to get over themselves.
Make sure if you're reading this, to go back about 7 posts or so, because I haven't updated since last Monday, and I'm not doing a mass post.

124. Feb. 22: I watched the Oscars having seen all of the nominated films for Acting and Motion Picture.
So, as much smack as I like to talk, I have never done this before. I feel like it seems like such an easy feat, but it isn't really at all. I had seen some of the ones that where nominated that came out a little earlier in the year. Then, just because they were movies I wanted to see, I saw some of the other ones, and by the time the Oscars noms came out, the only ones I needed to see were Doubt, Frozen River, and The Visitor. Which were all pretty okay, but none of the nominees deserved to win in those categories. I was so very happy that Sean Penn won, because he probably gave my favorite performance of the year, overall. I just loved him, and I loved that movie. Kate Winslet deserved to win, I suppose, and I was happy for her, but honestly, my favorite performance in that category was Anne Hathaway. I thought she was really good, and I usually don't think that about her. Of course Heath Ledger won, there was just no other option for that one. And I'm very glad Penelope Cruz won, because a.) she was really good in that movie, and b.) I made a bet with Molly that I would pay her 10 dollars if Amy Adams won, and she would have to pay me 10 dollars if anyone but Amy Adams or Viola Davis won. I think I had pretty good odds. She was ready to pay me, but she gave me an alternative option: Since she went to New York this weekend and saw Will Ferrell's one man show and got his autograph, she offered me the autograph. So I took the autograph.
Not surprised at all that Slumdog Millionaire won Best Picture, although it just dissappoints me, because I really just do not think that it was the best picture this year. I think Milk was amazing, and honestly, it just deserved it so much. Although, it is sweet about the Slumdog story, and it's very inspirational, but I really think the fricken Academy needs to get over itself, and start voting the way they should for things such as these.
Every time Slumdog won an award, Caroline and I would shout "Latika! Latika!" and we were singing Jai Ho very loudly when it won. I want to point out the weird thing they did with Down To Earth. Just because John Legend was singing does not mean they had to turn it into some sort of African Spiritual. I mean come on. I bet Peter Gabriel was pissed. I would be too.
Hugh Jackman was totally awesome. Totally awesome. I really loved his opening number. I don't care if stupid Neal Justin doesn't agree with me. A little critic named Roger Ebert does. So take that, Neal!
So, all in all, a good Oscars, but totally predictable. I mean come on. No wonder I got 18 right.

123. Feb. 21: I won at Scrabble.
This obviously happened by accident, but it was pretty spectacular, because I ended up winning by 2 points, even though we all thought my mother already won. I don't take Scrabble very seriously, so this isn't very likely for me. I wanted to play Sketto, but that was when it was just going to be me and Caroline, but I would have for sure won at that, too.

122. Feb. 20: I did 3 AP Statistics homework assignments in one day.
And none of them were late. I just got ahead of the game. I went in to get help from Mr. Niemic, and it was actually very useful. I am not the greatest math student, so it was a good call to get some things straightened out.

121. Feb. 19: I filled out an Oscar ballot.
I've recently been fairly invested in the Oscars, and am growing more and more appreciative of film, not just entertained by it. But I have never actually tried my hand at predicting. I'd seen most of the films up to this point, and relied on buzz, and EW to help me with my ballot, and I ended up doing okay, 18. There are some that I shouldn't have been stupid enough to put. But some, like Foreign film, I mean, come on. Outta left field.

120. Feb. 18: I read the entire Sonnets from the Portuguese.
I've owned the book for a little over a year, and have paged through it some, and I like what I've read. I do like the illustrations I have in my copy. I also made a point to read the introduction so I didn't cut any corners. It was mostly history on Elizabeth Barrett Browning. I suppose this is an example of some people who just have to own all of these poetry books, but never read any, or have little interest in poetry. Well, I have a few poetry books, and rarely read them, but I suppose I like poetry okay, but not when it looks like it's been written by the Toni Morrison of poetry.

IKEA BOO CAT
I know I'm not the only one disappointed in the lack of updating recently. My bad..
119. Feb. 17: I read a book of the Bible.
Upon the suggestion of Jon Towey, I read James. What I got from it was that it outlined the ways to perfect oneself. And not necessarily to become a perfect person, but to be faithful, and right in everything that you do. It seemed to be almost like guidelines for how you should act.
I don't often read the Bible, although when you tell someone you go to church regularly, they automatically assume that's all you do. I suppose you could call me a more passive Christian; a.k.a. a Lutheran.

You've got a great criminal mind
118. I finally started Online Health
Yes, this has been a problem, I've been putting this off since first quarter, and finally started my assignments today. I'd like to get all of Health 1 done fairly soon, so I hope to finish up quarter one this week, and then Health 2. Yipee.
I will be very happy when it's all over, and then I can finally activate my netflix, guilt free.
In other news, I had school off today, and apart from the online health bit, I didn't really do anything but eat practically anything I could get my hands on and watch The Brady Bunch. I really don't deserve days off, because as evidenced here, I just don't know what to do with myself.

Science Bowl
117. I watched Willow in DVD.
I'm a little burned out after 28 hours straight of hanging out with people. Willow is a childhood favorite, and I haven't watched it for probably 10 years, so def not on DVD. It was still awesome, but I seem to remember it being more gorey. Maybe that was just my impressionable mind. If it wasn't a childhood favorite, I probably wouldn't love it so much at all. It's nostalgic, not amazing.

February won't you be my Valentine
116. Feb. 14: I went on a Valentine's "date"
Totally not really that much at all, because it was with Tianna, so it was a friend date, but I have never made plans with somebody specifically because it was Valentine's day. We went after our EPITHET (the non-EPIC tournament) which took forever, and was a really stupid tournament anyway, because the packets were really hard, even my mother who was chaperoning (the bergie berr had "plans") thought it was really difficult. We were beat by Chaska A memorably in one round with us ending up with 20 pts, and them 1245 pts. If you play quizbowl, that should blow your mind. Tianna, Emma, and I only won 2 rounds out of 10, and we just seriously did awful. Pretty much one of the only highpoints of my scoring record was me getting neg 5 for buzzing in and saying "sex?!" on a question that ended up being incest. Hey, I was close. The moderator seemed to get a kick out of it. "Not" South A got second place and Chris got second top scorer, so we at least got some glory out of it. A lot of science, so figures about Chris.
Anyways, so the Valentine's "date." Tianna and I went back to my house to watch Lost, because I saw that it was on Hulu, but I guess I didn't realize that it was just linking to abc.com, which hasn't been working for me. So that's the first thing that went wrong. Then we go to the Mall, but Tianna forgot her ID, so we couldn't even set foot in the mall, and we went to southdale instead, but at that point it's 6:45, and the movie we want to go to is at 7, so I go up to the foodcourt to get some burgerking for us to eat, but burgerking doesn't exist anymore at Southdale, so we went down to Arby's, but we wanted to make sure they didn't make us throw it away, so we got a plastic bag from games by james, and we smuggled our food in, and then had to sit in the very front row, because it was sold out and thats the only place where there were two seats together. Afterwards, I knocked over a woman's nearly beer bottle with my elbow, and apologized to her, but her boyfriend was like "It's okay. We didn't smuggle those in, just like your Arby's didn't happen."
It all worked out in the end I guess, but I would be more organized next year on Valentine's day if I make plans again.
They asked us if we could leave
115. Feb. 13: I went to a play at Illusion Theater.
Molly's mom had gotten tickets to "Speech and Debate" which was playing there, and she had an extra ticket and asked me to go. It was about misfit teenagers forming the speech and debate club at their school to expose the secrets of a certain teacher they have. It was really funny, but also sad, and it was well acted. I would recommend anyone see it. The theater was nice too. I don't think I've ever been to a theater where it's just straight up a floor in a building.
Then afterwards Jane and Molly slept over because we had a quizbowl the next morning, and I should probably add that this night will go down in history as the night Molly brought "Maureen" to life. She found some old American Girl Doll shoes while she was cleaning out her house, and Jane and I both kind of made fun of them when we saw them, but she brought them to the play, and put them on her fingers and made them dance. We called it Maureen because that was the name on the armrest of my seat at the play.

I'm bigger than my body gives me credit for
113. Feb. 11: I slept on the opposite side of my bed that I normally sleep on.
I have a queen size bed, and I'm sure like many other people, I like to sleep on the side closest to my nightstand. Well, I came into my bed a few years ago when my brother took up residence with his girlfriend, and he needed to get rid of his bed. But I have never even slept in the middle or on the side. Not even when I have other people sleeping in there with me. So, I sat on the other side reading for a little while and then I went to bed. It made my bed feel even larger, and it made my whole sleeping experience much more luxurious. I would recommend this to anyone who had a queen size bed all to themselves. It reminded my of the days when I had my twin size bed, because I was so close to the wall, but I'll definitely be switching up my sleep ritual from now on.

My study is the heart of the people
119. I went to the Build-a-Bear Workshop.
It's always been one of those things where I kind of want to go there, but seriously don't, and I'd always just kind of left it at that. But then when Lizzie asked for a Build-a-Bear gift card for her birthday, I decided I'd forgo the gift card and go with her. I might as well get a new thing and a cute bear out it, right? I always thought that it was much more "build a bear" as, I'm sure most of you can gather, is implied with it's name. But you basically pick out your bear "shell" or "skin" (they don't actually call them that) and then you wait in line behind the birthday party full of children that will enevitably be there ahead of you, and then some guy stuffs your bear with fluff. It is interactive, you get to step on the peddle that makes the machine go for the fluffing. And even though we were teenage girls, he still had us take the little stuffed hearts, rub them in our hands, press them to our hearts, make a wish, kiss them, and stuff them into our bears. I, as I'm sure many others would, kind of made a joke out of it, but I'm pretty sure it's not sacred or anything, so I'm good. Then Lizzie picked out a bathrobe for her bear, and we checked out after making our birth certificates. Lizzie, after much consideration, named her bear Fred. I came with a name picked out, Liam. So, Liam the bear, and Fred the slightly scruffier bear. Honestly, it was fun, I'd do it again. Well, I wouldn't say fun, but I've been into inanimate objects lately. (Lewis, and Elma?) What does that say about me? That's not some cryptic way of saying I'm lonely for companionship.

Top: Lizzie and I after building our bears.
Bottom: Liam in all his glory.
Afterwards we went to Coraline in 3D. It was good, if not a little long. I seem to remember the book not being so long, but nothing seemed unfamiliar. It seems to be growing on me. Which often happens with animated movies, I'm not sure why. Then we went to Brueggers. Yumm..
Speaking of food, the editorial staff brought in a bunch of food and desserts to sixth hour today, to thank our writers for last issue, and to prove, once again, that we are the coolest editors ever. Holler.

Sleepless hours and dreamless nights and far aways
118. I baked Macaroni and Cheese.
I pride myself on my homemade macaroni, because it's awesome, but it was just my mother and me tonight, and we are the only ones who like macaroni and cheese baked style, so we had that, and since it takes literally forever, I made it. It went much better than other things I have tried to make. Add that to the list of things I actually can do.
I guess I'm obsessed with Quiz Bowl right now. a.k.a "that young qb," if you ever get confused. There's been an influx of tournaments lately. Including Academic Worldquest, our last NAQT Mac meet, the super un-legit run for the roses last saturday, and this EP tournament this saturday, which is said to be the antithesis of last year's EPIC, which will be disappointing, but it was a well run tournament last year anyway, so hopefully that won't be compromised. I want to give myself a plug by saying that I placed 5th in EPIC last year, and I won't be modest about it, because that will be my peak of my acheivements when it comes to individual standings in Quiz Bowl tournament. It was a pop culture tournament, so figures.
I just really feel like blogging right now, because I need to express how tired of winter I've become. Which is unusual for me, because I'm usually the last person to want to say goodbye to winter, (except for last year, jeez) and I really just want summer to be here. Not especially for the weather, but just to have my days back. I have a lot of full day projects lined up, and that's the season where most of my good ideas for new things have gone to. See I don't want to waste a whole day on doing stupid things when I have the whole day, so I'm getting little things out of the way. Sue me. Things I'm really excited to do: Build a bookshelf, watch all six Rocky's/Star Wars in a day (respectively) bike around all of the lakes, speedreading a book, reading an entire series of books in one day (short books of course). I don't want to spoil some of my really good ideas, so I won't say any more.
Sometimes I hate and sometimes I love the connotations certain music has for me. I'm listening to Ben Folds right now, and it's reminding me of summer, but I guess not really in a good way. Listening to Rockin' the Suburbs on Ross's ipod on the summer trip is probably what's doing it. I had fun this summer, but I guess I relate this music to the worst parts. But then when I listen to Billy Joel, I'm reminded of every summer in the best way possible, and when I listen to John Mayer I'm reminded of my eighth grade year, which was the "year of dreams" in my young life. Coldplay will always remind me positively of winter, Elton John of fall or late summer. I guess what I'm saying, is that I haven't really been able to acquire any new music tastes lately without it gathering a negative connotation. Does anyone have anything they can do for me?
Finally, and after this, I swear I'll stop ranting, I just miss last year. I miss all the boys who graduated from Quiz Bowl, I miss not having the insane pressure of not being an editor, and merely a designer on newspaper, I miss everyone who graduated at church, I miss the excitement of going to France for the first time. I had a dream last night that I was back in France, and it was just like I was there last night, I remembered it so clearly. I woke up with the taste of Wheetabix in my my mouth, which I'm sure I manufactured myself. I miss going to work after school and feeling awesome and grown-up. I miss being able to say that I really want to go to Eau Claire in the fall, I miss the friends that I made last year, but don't see this year, I miss my sister living at home, I miss all the classes last year, I miss the feeling of knowing that I will still know everyone at my school the next year, and not being scared to death that I made the wrong choice for next year, and I just miss not being so stressed all the time. It's not even tangible stress, it's the kind where I'm just thinking about how different things are going to be next year, and I really just want to cling to the comforts I've built for myself over the last 18 years.

You were only waiting for this moment to arise
117. I went to "Spirit Garage"
It was this thing we were doing for church, it was downtown and they used Triple Espresso's stage to do their worship. I didn't really like it. I felt uncomfortable the whole time. I've felt more comfortable in a mega-church. I don't know. I didn't really have to go, but I thought I'd be more open about it. It might have also had something to do with me being rather tired, which I am very much still. They did however sing "Get Together" by The Youngbloods, and I do love that song, so gotta give them some cred for that.
After play rehearsal Jessica, Tianna, Lizzie, Griffin and I ventured out to Minehaha Academy to go see Ross's Madrigal Dinner. That thing is heavy duty, they aren't kidding around. It was about 3 hours long, and it was stuffy. Tianna, Jessica, Lizzie and I were seated at a table with an older couple, and another older man. The older man I was next to was Birch, who is probably my new favorite person, I pretty much know his life story now. He was very interested in what I was going to do next year, and said he wishes me luck next winter in Wisconsin, and also wanted to know everything about South. He and the older couple were the grandparents of two kids in the show, and he pointed them out to me. I thought the boy was cute until I made a huge creeper move and looked him up on facebook and found out he was a sophomore, which is not okay with me. Oh well. Ross looked hilarious, I have to add in there.
"Do we get to hug this velvety mass?"
-After the show, I wondered if we were going to able to hug Ross.

Spirit of Saint Louis
116. I, along with a team of course, came in first place in an academics tournament.
This is is much contrast to the post I had about a week ago. It was a super lame tournament, but I guess we were just the least lame there, and we won fake roses with a first place ribbon on it. Patrick's Press wrote the tournament, so figures.

The Luckiest
Caroline thinks this should be my new thing. I really am disappointed with this week, and I shouldn't have to make excuses, but this has been a very heavy production week.
115. I went to Ikea at night.
So much nicer, I recommend this, because it's way less crowded. And it has nicer lighting, because those big windows don't get to let in the light. I bought another plant, since Lewis seems to have taken up residence in the kitchen where he can get more light. But I bought a bigger plant this time; a Zebra plant which I'm calling Elma. It is a real name, I swear. It's dutch, but it's supposed to be short for something. I also bought a cinnamon bun, which I have yet to eat, and a large can of pear cider, which I have yet to drink.

What it's of, What it's of
At the insistence of my mother:
114. I accepted admission at a college.
I'm sure everyone is sick of college/newspaper related things.

I'll sharpen my mind
I'm sure most of you have already seen this, but I just love this commercial. I'd like to think that If I were a male actor in a comedy series I would be Alec Baldwin.

Una voce poco fa
I had planned on making "accepting my college acceptance" my new thing today, which might have been a little less legit, but a little more epic, but I didn't get a chance.
113. I used trace for graphics in InDesign for newspapah.
Hear me out, because before this I felt pathetic, because I forgot how to do it from graphic design class, and remembered how a couple of weeks ago by listening to the InDesign portion of our graphics tutorial. Plus, cut me some slack, my life was owned by the Southerner today.
So, yes, I am going to Stout.

You provide the pictures; I'll provide the war
111. Feb. 2: I stayed after school for no apparent reason.
Which I do not suggest for anyone to do. Such a waste of time, I literally walked around the second floor for a while. Talked to Don Dilla, and Mr. Ponto, and that was pretty much it. Seriously. Don't do it.
On another note, I'm currently watching Citizen Kane in film studies. I'd been told that it was the greatest movie technically ever made. I'd have to agree I guess, but I haven't seen every movie ever made. I want to watch Newsies again now, because of the William Randolph Hurst factor. Not that he's in it really at all. But I've the soundtrack stuck in my head now.

Superman or Green Lantern ain't got nothing on me
Eh...
110. Feb. 1: I watched the Super Bowl at length.
However, I did not watch the whole thing. I either a.) did not have time, or b.) cannot put aside my dislike of football enough to sit through a game of which I don't know the rules. I swear, I'm not a total priss.
The commercials were not that great either.
HOWEVER,
The Office was awe-some. I cannot express how much I just love that show. Jim and Pam are absolute perfection together. Dwight is an idiot, and I just love Michael, even though he is equally an idiot.

Yo, Raps
My bad on not updating, I haven't even been that busy.
110. Jan. 30: I slept in a tent inside. To get more specific, someone's living room.
Lizzie's birthday party was themed sort of like a camp-out, so we slept in a tent in her living room, and we had a fire, and we ate burgers. We also watched Space Jam, Wild Wild West, and decorated cupcakes. Due to some sort of vendetta everyone was holding against me, nobody saw the true beauty of my cupcakes. And thanks to the fire, I'm now doing extensive laundry, because everything I brought to Lizzie's reeks of smoke.

Dr. Scientist
It's been a rough week, but I thought, in the spirit of Academic World Quest, I would make this my new thing:
109. I, along with a team of course, came in dead last in an academics tournament.
The aforementioned Academic World Quest was the tournament, and I seem to remember us doing decent last year, but I guess we were just the worst out of everyone . We didn't even win the team spirit award, although some may argue that we were a shoe-in. (We had hats.) Whatevs, we'll just stick to quizbowl.

We didn't even win the team spirit award, although some may argue that we were a shoe-in. (We had hats.) Whatevs, we'll just stick to quizbowl.

They Shoot Horses, Don't They?
I had a quizbowl tournament tonight, and I just won't have time to do something super duper legit, so I'm going to throw this one out there:
108. I attended a class with only 4 people, including myself.
Keep in mind, no one was absent. 4 people total are in my Psych class. And we're going for it, they aren't pulling the plug. So, I'm pretty excited, because Psych is going to be awesome, plus I know what to expect from the Bergie Berr, so I hope that works to my advantage.
Quote of the day:
"So, at one point, we all had generic sexual organs."
-Mr. Ponto, AP Bio
I don't know why I thought that was funny.
On another note:
I'm pulling the plug on the movie quotes, because there's one left, and I don't think anybody's going to get it.
6. Best In Show
Parker Posey says it, remember?
Tianna got the Zoolander one tonight, but I said it outloud to her, so the way I said it, might have given it away, I don't know. It was David Bowie's line.
But for the mostpart, good job guys.

Go placidly amid the noise and haste
This one might seem very familiar, and it should. It's a slight variation on one of my previous new things.
107. I took a one minute shower.
You may remember 3 1/2 minute shower day, and think that this shouldn't count. But it most definitely does. It was so difficult, but I'm completely clean. I had to skip conditioner of course. My hair will be having a wack attack tomorrow, I'm sure. One minute was what I was trying to go for the first time. I honestly couldn't think of anything for today, because believe it or not, I DO have a list of ideas, but a lot of them required much more time and effort than I had to spare. I dare everyone to try and do the one minute shower. Maybe not before a hot date.

I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints
106. I gave a basic tutorial on how to use InDesign.
Although I am the Graphics Editor of our paper, I am not usually completely confident with my skills, and can never remember basic stuff from Graphic Design class, but today, since we're switching our system so that everyone has to make graphics and take photos, I had to teach InDesign, because I know that much better than Illustrator. I made our Design Editor do that because I don't remember how to use it very well...But the point is, I was able to teach people to make Infographics and Sidebars without screwing up too much. Now I just hope they don't come to me with any questions that I definitely can't answer...

It's either sadness or euphoria
I would like to amend my previous post, without actually amending it. My mother points out that I made Chicken Noodle Casserole for the first time yesterday. A fact which I pointed out constantly since I took forever, and did such a bad job. So, I'd like to switch that to:
105. Jan. 26: I made Chicken Noodle Casserole.
It's delish.
But I also updated from school. People are going to get irritated with me for saying this, but even 100 days in to this, sometimes I forget to do new things, or forget the new thing that I've already done. My bad....
I also got Caroline to be mad at me today, but that's not a new thing. I'll use my blog to publicly apologize to her. I'm sorry I made you waste an hour of your life for no reason. Sorry....I'll buy you a Chipotle and let you come over and watch Willow will me.

Speaking of which, I bought Willow the other day. I'm super excited. Now I just need to buy Labyrinth, and then I've got my childhood favorite films in my collection once more. Emily, or Caroline, or parents even, do you recall any movie that could also be a childhood favorite of mine? I'm really into that right now.

And I shrugged my shoulders, as people do in novels, but never in real life.
105. I updated my blog from school.
Isn't it lame that I updated my blog from school, and it was my new thing, but I didn't write about it in that post. I don't know why not. That's a little anti-climactic.
I am currently obsessed with Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. I finally cracked open my season 3 eight volume set that I finally got in the mail, and I have been watching non-stop. Emily, you have to come over and watch with me, or I'll let you borrow it. Either way.

Why is Hank in this picture?

Much Ado About Everything
I guess I haven't really posted anything in awhile, and I don't think anybody will be satisfied with what I have to show for myself:
101. Jan. 22: I received my first issue of Glamour in the mail.
Obviously not something I did at all, for sure.
This one is lame too:
102. Jan. 23: I watched "In Bruges"
I really loved it, it was really funny. I love Ralph Fiennes so much, he is the awesomest. And even though I don't usually love Colin Farrell, he was good. He reminded me of Paris. They have the same face, and expressions, but Paris is sketchier.
103. Jan. 24: I went to a midnight movie at the Uptown.
They were showing "Labyrinth" and thats why I went. I love that movie so much. David Bowie is probably the coolest person who ever existed. God, I need that soundtrack right now.
104. Jan. 25: I slept over at Caroline's apartment.
Since she lives in Uptown, I slept at her apartment after the movie. We hung out beforehand, but SNL wasn't on (stupid Patti LaBelle...), and I had to watch the weird shows she and Austin watch like Burn Notice, which I really never wanted to watch in my life, because I hate the main guy. He's stupid.
Intelligent post right? poop- love zoe

Much Ado About Nothing
Stupidest thing I've ever read in my entire life. As if this should be a shock to ANYONE:
"Sorry, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, et. al; you may be overwhelming fan favorites, but the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has no love for you.
The blockbuster vampire flick Twilight didn’t garner a single nod in this year’s list of Oscar nominees. The movie was wholly eclipsed by such fare as Milk, Slumdog Millionaire, The Dark Knight and especially The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which garnered an astounding 13 nominations.

Oh well; at least Pattinson and the gang have plenty of $1,000 bills they can wipe their tears away with."
I found this as a link from IMDb, and absolutely had to investigate. You can visit the website here.
I'm sorry, I have no patience for people who know NOTHING about the Oscars. Especially people who think that Amy Adams will win for Doubt. *Cough* Molly *Cough*
I don't like Reggae, oh no, I love it
100. Jan 21: I played Risk.
I was observing again for the special needs assignments I need to do for econ, and they had some sort of computerized version of risk, and were playing it on the big screen, and they helped me out because they know I'd never played it before. I lost really bad, but it was actually really fun. I might have to get that game now.
100 holla!!

St. Elmo's Fire
99. I watched a Presidential Inauguration.
We had CNN streaming into classrooms at school so we could watch it, so that's essentially what we did 3rd hour. It was very epic. It went pretty quick. I got to see mah boy Bill Clinton in a tasteful yellow scarf. I wish I would have watched his inauguration, even though back then he wasn't truly mah boy yet.
Good Taste.

Kalon
98. I saw a Mickey Rourke movie. As I'm sure you can guess, The Wrestler.
I've been waiting to see that movie for awhile now, and I saw it at the Lagoon tonight. It was really good. Not as amazingly incredible as I was lead to believe. Mickey Rourke was good, but I can't say I want him to win the Oscar. Although, that's not to say he won't. I really want Sean Penn to win. And I def don't think Marisa Tomei will win, even though she was pretty dece.

The Captives
I'm stealing this from Caroline's livejournal. Feel free to guess if you want. This is not my new thing, I'm simply bored and want to blog.
1. Pick 20 of your favorite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote dialogue from each movie.
3. Post them in your own blog for everyone to guess, but not before you take a crack at these!
4. Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.
5. No Googling/using IMDb search functions.
6. As always, winner gets cookies!
1. Wow. This place is great. When can we move in? You gotta try this pole. I'm gonna get my stuff. Hey. We should stay here. Tonight. Sleep here. You know, to try it out. Rachel- Ghostbusters
2. I love that word "relationship." Covers all manner of sins, doesn't it? I fear that this has become a bad relationship; a relationship based on the President taking exactly what he wants and casually ignoring all those things that really matter to, erm... Britain. We may be a small country, but we're a great one, too. The country of Shakespeare, Churchill, the Beatles, Sean Connery, Harry Potter. David Beckham's right foot. David Beckham's left foot, come to that. And a friend who bullies us is no longer a friend. And since bullies only respond to strength, from now onward I will be prepared to be much stronger. And the President should be prepared for that.
Caroline- Love Actually
3. I'm not entirely sure that I've had enough rum to allow that kind of talk. Caroline- POTC
4. Now, I wouldn't have a second's hesitation of blowing your head off right here and right now in front of 'em. Now, that's power you can't buy! That's the power of fear. Caroline- Batman Begins
5. Who has a safety deposit box full of... money and six passports and a gun? Who has a bank account number in their hip? I come in here, and the first thing I'm doing is I'm catching the sightlines and looking for an exit. Caroline- The Bourne Identity
6. We met at Starbucks. Not at the same Starbucks but we saw each other at different Starbucks across the street from each other.
7. There's not many people that'll understand what you're going through. But I think this guy, Xavier, is one of them. He seems to genuinely want to help you. And that's a rare thing, for people like us. Rachel- X-Men
8. Because "accident" implies there's nobody to blame. Caroline- Hot Fuzz
9. 2:46, get a watch that works. Caroline (I guess)- Ocean's 11
10. Took you long enough to get here. Took you ten years to get to my house. Huh, what's the matter? You don't like my house? Does my house stink? That's right-it stinks! I didn't have no favors from you! Don't slum around me. Talkin' about your prime. What about my prime, Mick? At least you had a prime! I didn't have no prime. I didn't have nothin'! Leg's are goin', everything is goin'. Nobody's getting' no nothin'. Guy comes up, offers me a fight. Big deal. Wanna fight the fight? Yeah, I'll fight the big fight. I wouldn't wanna fight. Know what's gonna happen to me? I'm gonna get that! I'm gonna get that! And you wanna be ringside to see it? Do ya? You wanna help me out? Huh? Do you wana see me get my face kicked in? Leg's ain't workin', nothing's workin', but they go, "Go on, fight the champ." Yeah, I'll fight him. Get my face kicked in. And you come around here. You wanna move in here with me? Come on in! 11. Unless the enemy has studied his Agrippa... which I have. Emily- The Princess Bride
12. If nobody has any objections, I believe I might be of service. Tianna- Zoolander
13. My $2000 ceramic Vektor my mother got me as a special gift. You threw in the lake next to the car. What happens when they drag the lake? You think they'll find my pistol. Jesus. Look up "idiot" in the dictionary. You know what you'll find? Caroline- Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
14. Please don't follow me around with it either because I feel like I'm going to catch on fire spontaneously. Just stand down. If something happens, then come in. Caroline- Iron Man
15. Maybe I'm spending too much of my time starting up clubs and putting on plays. I should probably be trying harder to score chicks. Caroline- Rushmore
16. My insurance? It's your car. Your insurance should pay for it. I wanna know who's gonna pay for this. I spilled beer all over when that car smashed into me. Who's gonna pay my cleaning bill? Rachel- Back to the Future
17. I... I'm here on a spontaneous holiday. Caroline- Mamma Mia
18. Listen. Since I've met you I've nearly been incinerated, drowned, shot at, and chopped into fish bait. We're caught in the middle of something sinister here, my guess is dad found out more than he was looking for and until I'm sure, I'm going to continue to do things the way I think they should be done. Emily- Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
19. Maybe not, but it's the only thing I know how to do and I gotta do something. PARIS!- Speed Racer!
20. Now, you listen to me! I don't want any plastics, and I don't want any ground floors, and I don't want to get married - ever - to anyone! You understand that? I want to do what I want to do. And you're... and you're... Mother- It's a Wonderful Life

Salsa Con Queso
I was only home for about 2 hours yesterday, during which time I forgot to do something new.
97. Jan. 17: I ate General Tso's Chicken from Star Moon.
So that'll have to suffice. I love General Tso's. I used to love Star Moon. During "The Summer of Dreams" (summer after 8th grade) I literally went there at least twice a week. I don't know how I didn't go completely broke, or at least gain 15 lbs. But anyways, I've recently looked past the convenience and good food, I realized how sketchy it is, and have been going to Fresh Wok instead. During my time with Fresh Wok, I switched over from Sesame Chicken to General Tso's. Verdict: Not as good at Star Moon. Fresh Wok is better on all levels.

A Little Night Music
96. Jan. 16: I ate Moroccan Food.
I had had couscous before, but I had never eaten a Moroccan dish. It was some sort of chicken, chickpea, carrot, apricot, couscous, and some other stuff sort of dish. It looked like it was going to be really spicy, and I wish it was, but it wasn't. It's grown on me, but I would make it spicier, and not eat it with couscous. Even if it's not traditional..

I don't understand the same things as you
I had a sister date last night with Caroline and Emily, and since we're sisters, we didn't really do anything new, but upon Emily's suggestion, this is my thing:
95. Jan. 16: I watched a shaz ton of featurettes on The Princess Bride DVD, and also the movie, but I'd def seen it before. Def.
There were just a lot of special features, because it was the special edition, so we watched the making of featurette, like a minute of Cary Elwes's video diary, all the TV spots, the theatrical trailer, and two whole other featurettes, I don't remember what exactly they were. So, yeah.
So sister date was Caroline, Emily, and myself, going to Baja Sol, and being there for a long time, and sampling a lot of the salsa's, and me giving Caroline a mock interview, where I was trying to be really abusive and unpredictable (I just want to prepare her for the worst) and we pretty much just talked sisterly things, and then we went back to Emily's house, and tried to decide on a movie to go see, but we couldn't really decide, so we just decided to stay there and watch a movie, and I mentioned how I've been watching Princess Bride non-stop lately, and wish I had brought it, and Emily said she had a copy, so we watched that. And I ate some Trader Joe's chocolates, that weren't that good, and a whole box of Sweet Tarts, and that was pretty much it. It was much more fun than I make it sound, believe me. You'd have to be a sister to understand.
So, If you couldn't tell, I've been completely obsessed with The Princess Bride this week. It was probably my favorite movie as a child, and as we were watching it last night, we could all practically quote along with every line, and get the intonation down, even. That was a Royce family classic. I saw it on TV recently, and I watched it the twice in a row that it was on, and then I really wanted to watch it again, but I only had a VHS of it, so I bought it at target like a week ago, and I've been watching it a ton. But, pretty much always falling asleep during the first half hour. So, yeah, pretty obsessed right now.

Moon spilling in
94. I made a completely random playlist on iTunes.
This included me going crossed-eyed while I chose the songs, so I could still see what I was doing, but not able to see the songs I was adding to my playlist. For the most part, it's a good representation of my musical tastes, but since lately, I haven't really been into the whole, listening to a lot of one artist, my music taste is more obscure and consists more of me hearing a song on Kool 108 and going home to download it. So, the last nine songs I took specifically from my purchased section of iTunes. Call me a cheater. I can take it.
1. All the Young Girls Love Alice- Elton John
2. Trouble (Acoustic)- Coldplay
3. Carry That Weight- The Beatles
4. The Sun- Maroon 5
5. One- U2
6. Sister Christian- Night Ranger
7. The News- Jack Johnson
8. Layla- Derek and the Dominoes (Don't be misled, this is essentially the same as Eric Clapton)
9. Campaign of Hate- The Libertines
10. Atlantic (music video)- Keane
11. Mudfootball- Jack Johnson
12. I Go To Extremes- Billy Joel
13. Train Under Water- Bright Eyes
14. My Father's Gun- Elton John
15. Old Soul Song- Bright Eyes
16. Man, I feel Like a Woman- Shania Twain (I should probably do something about this..)
17. Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting- Elton John
18. The Saga- The Libertines
19. Your Sister Can't Twist (But She Can Rock&Roll)- Elton John
20. Beyond the Sea- Kevin Spacey (Leave it to me to be lame and not have the real version)
21. You give love a bad name- Bon Jovi
22. The Way I Am- Ingrid Michaelson
23. Wishing you Were Here- Chicago
24. Dream a Little Dream of Me- The Mama's and the Papa's
25. If We Hold on Together- Diana Ross (holla)
26. Mind- Talking Heads
27. Gone- Ben Folds
28. Whistle For the Choir- The Fratelli's
29. Thriller- Michael Jackson
Well, I just realized how terribly mondo that list is. Nevertheless, I think I'd have to say that I'm only embarassed about one song on that list, I think you can guess which one (I take it back, Caroline. I'm def more embarassed about the Twain than Diana Ross, and there's more where that came from) You also may notice there is a massive surplus of Elton John. Don't be fooled into thinking I worship at Reg's feet, but I am a pretty serious fan. But that was a total accident that he came up so much. Maybe it's my subconcious effort to get someone to pay loads of cash to go the Billy Joel and Elton John concert with me. Eh? Eh?
You might be thinking "Why aren't you also listening to this new playlist?" eh...I don't really have a good answer for that. But I encourage people to make similar playlists and see what comes up. Or, recreate this exact playlist, listen to it, and decide to drop $200 on Elton John tickets. Eh? Eh???

The Cider House Rules!!
93. Jan. 14: I read the entire Southerner in a day.
Some may think that it's not that big of a D, but totally, I mean, when you've got 16 pages of that thing, it takes some dedication. I read some articles that I had not read yet, during production, and maybe would have never ended up reading, because as an editor, quite honestly, these articles are talked about so much during production, if it's an article I'm vaguely interested in, I would figure I got the jist of it, and that's all I need. I probably wouldn't have read one that I consider the strongest article this month, and I would never have believed that it came from one of our newest writers. Our content and design was great this month, except that all our photos ran too dark. Which made the backpage look a little less appealing, but I'm happy with how it turned out. These things always look better on the computer.
Eh, I guess I don't have much else to say.

Help the Least of These
92. Jan. 14: I operated the scoring system at a Knowledge Bowl meet.
For those who can't recall, I'm incredibly cool, and that's why I play on the Quiz Bowl team, and last night we had our first Knowledge Bowl tournament (The poor man's Quiz Bowl) and I had to help Berggie Berr operate the scoring system. Exciting, huh?
Not quite.

Subject lines are for losers...
91. Jan. 12: I read an article in Men's Vogue.
You may be questioning my choice on the whole Men's Vogue thing, but it's only because I own two copies of Men's Vogue, and I've never read any articles in it. The first time I bought it because of a spread on Jim Sturgess, and the second time, Barack Obama was on the cover. I read the cover story for the Jim Sturgess one, which was about cars. Specifically, Bugatti.
Some things I learned:
The newest model of Bugatti's run out of gas in 12 minutes at full speed, which is a good safety precaution, as the tires would melt in 15 minutes.
I can't really remember anything else.
On another note, I don't suggest for people to read Men's Vogue on a regular basis. It's not a good investment. Although it's MUCH classier than Details, which finds some way to mention sex on every page, GQ where it's at. Classy, interesting articles, great men's fashions, and educational, too. Did you know that you are not to drink Scotch with ice in it? It dulls the flavor.

Mind
90. I watched the entire Golden Globes.
It was actually a little difficult, because the Golden globes are stupid these days. What the heck, no Milk? Where is the love? And I loved Slumdog Millionaire, but I don't know how I feel about it winning like EVERYTHING. Eh, we'll see. This is going to be a tough Oscars to call, in my opinion.
Almost to 100!

Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground
89. I went to a Yoga class.
Verrrry relaxing. I went to One Yoga, this small studio on Lyndale Ave. It was really nice, and cozy and relaxing, and it smelled good. Which I'm sure is nothing out of the norm for a Yoga studio. Our instructor, Ben, was very easy to learn from, even though he had to personally help Tianna and Me a few times. I think Jessica, Tianna and I were the only high-schoolers there. There were some older couples, and hip 30-somethings, pretty much. I would definitely go back, but I can't quite remember the pricing scale. It was cheap, but I'm not made of money.
I also visited UW River Falls today, because although I've applied there, I have never actually been there. It was pretty, but small, and the town is super small. It's not too far from home, and that's also where Jessica is going, so I'd have that going for me at least. We'll see..
I also saw "The Reader" today, which I liked a lot more than I thought I would. I didn't think I would hate it or anything, but the opinion that it's a great movie is not widely held. It was pretty long, but that might of been me drinking a large DC and having to pee. I liked it more than Revolutionary Road, and would say Kate Winslet was better in this too. I love Ralph Fiennes, so that worked in it's favor. And the younger gentleman who was in it wasn't bad either. A lot of nudity though. My gosh. I'm not a prude my any means, but I didn't realize I'd see that much of so many people. I think the award for the person who has had the most sex in movies this year goes to Kate Winslet. Take that Academy!

In the face of danger
88. Jan. 9: I went to a literary event. a.k.a an author reading.
It was at The Loft, which is ultra hip, I felt out of place, because I was for sure lacking the hipness. It was for Dobby Gibson, who is a poet. Not a house elf. Although he looked rather elvish, but in the way Orlando Bloom looks elvish, but he didn't look like Orlando Bloom....I digress. It was really cool, and his poems were just kind of about everyday life. He had a great way of putting into words exactly what you feel about everything. He even had a poem, I can't remember the exact name, but he got the title from the name of a subcategory on KISS's Wikipedia page. Which is TOTALLY the kind of thing I do for my blog posts. Just to clear things up, that's why most of them are obscure and completely irrelevant. But anyways, very hip. I should mention though, even though I don't want to, that for my CIS Lit. class I'm required to write an essay on a literary event, so this wasn't my own idea, but I still would have done it, had I not been required.
I heard something interesting on the radio this morning (not this morning, but friday's morning, the day you're reading about) that Anne Hathaway's New Years Resolution is to DO SOMETHING NEW EVERYDAY. Holla. Even though there's not way I can justifiably say that she stole my idea, I feel like people are going to compare me to her, so the pressure's on like mad. I've got some good things coming up, but I want people to realize that I want to space out the cooler, more interesting things, because- little known fact -there are 365 days in a year. That's a lot of new things. Just...sayin.....

87. Jan. 8: I went to a CIS Field day at the U.
Eh. It was boring. It pulled me out of class for the second day in a row, but as luck would have it, I had to come back to school for production. Yay Southerner......
But amazing story, while I was working on said newspaper, Chris, Abby, and Jane came up to the office and had a letter for me from Mark Hoonsbeen (who is the most hilarious and novel character to ever hit the world of Econ). It basically said all this stuff about how we did a great job at the Econ Rodeo (Which I forgot to mention, we swept completely because we know our stuff) the day before, and I was so amazed and hilariated (haven't used that one in awhile) that I didn't notice how incredibly fishy it was. Which it was, because it was fake. Even after I freaked out in front of all the editors, and professed how flattering and hilarious I found the whole thing, when I found out it was fake, it was even funnier, because I think I was SO stupid for falling for that. Honestly, even a fool would have never believed it. Oh well, lapse in judgement. Chris is just a great prankster. I even thought about it a couple times later that night and had to stifle laughter because I just can't stand how funny it is. But it's kind of one of those you'd have to be on Quiz Bowl to think it's super funny. I see this becoming a golden inside joke.

Will the world end in the nighttime?
86. Jan. 7: I gave myself a manicure.
As I'm sure you can tell, I didn't just paint my nails. I've definitely done that before. I used a clipper, a file, a buffer, polish, I shined them, used cuticle oil, and then put lotion on. So that's my "at home manicure." It didn't work out very well, because I didn't gauge the "dryness" of the polish very well, so there's some smudging, but I think I did an okay job for my first attempt at making my nails look better than decent.

Bo Yo
85. I played The Office Trivia Game. And Won.
I had never played before, so me mentioning that I won wasn't necessary, obviously, except, we all know that it was. Yeah, I'm pretty awesome.

Amoreena
I was having a very off day yesterday. I was very depressed, and down in the dumps, for seemingly no reason, so I didn't put a lot of effort into this, obviously:
84. Jan. 5: I finally saw Milk.
Which was amazing. I hope to God it wins the Oscar. Sean Penn should also totally win for best actor. And I have a feeling he will. I can also never get over how much I love Emile Hirsch. It doesn't really make any sense (even though he's incredibly awesome) but I just love him so much. Now I really want to watch Speed Racer. Or Into the Wild. Equally awesome.

Rollin' with Brolin
To anyone who was impressed with the blogging catch-up I played, and then dissappointed by my lack of blogging the days following, I apologize. I probably feel the same way you do.
79. Dec. 31: I celebrated New Years with Fireworks.
That's not me getting specific, I could also say using fireworks in general. They were extremely loud, and we lit them out in my street, and I suspect the neighbors got annoyed, but honestly, what do you expect? I had a sleepover with Tianna, Jessica, and Lizzie at my house, and as usual, we didn't do anything too exciting or raucus. We played Tabboo, ate food, watched The Twilight Zone, played Apples to Apples, and that was pretty much it. I don't believe in going insanely crazy for New Years Eve. What's the point?
I didn't really have a good idea for New Years day, so loosely based off of Emily's suggestion:
80. New Years Day 2009: I lived a day in the year 2009.
So, obviously I've never done that before. And can never say that it's a new thing again. Whatevs, I won't allow myself to take crap from anybody.
New Years is the holiday that I'm never looking forward to, but am always pleased when it happens, much like how I "don't like" Spring, but really love when it becomes Springtime. I love all the commercials telling me how to go out and reinvent myself, and make this year the year that will count, and they're very inspiring, although I never do. So that got me thinking, why not? So that will be one of my resolutions. Find some way to reinvent myself. Because, honestly, I'm not at all satisfied with what I'm doing right now.
Anyways, but my New Years Day was fun, I went out to Watertown to go to a "S"elebration, because my cousin Sam was home for the holidays, and he's otherwise in California doing Green Beret-y stuff. We played Catch Phrase, made Leffsa, ate food, and sang Disney songs around the piano. It put me in the best mood I'd been in for awhile, and I was feeling incredibly euphoric, although that was all dashed when I got some bad news the next day, and got really depressed again.
81. Jan. 2: I wrote for the 24-hour plays.
I had participated in them before by acting, but I had never written before, and so I def wanted to get in on that crazy sleep-deprived action. I was in a group with Tianna, Paris, and Emma, and we wrote possibly the best play ever, because we all kind of have a hard time speaking normally, meaning, I think at least, we all have a great odd vernacular. So, our play was super clever- and I guess what did I expect, it's the 24-hour plays- but it relied a lot on being preformed word for word. Which obviously didn't happen. So, at least we have our own self satisfaction. And the play that I was in, went absolutely crazy when Marc and Jordon kind of didn't know their lines, only the jist of them, so we didn't really know our cues, and a lot of things got cut out, and the ending made absolutely no sense. But at least it made it a lot funnier, but it made me feel stupid, because I can't improv to save my life, and I tried to make it work, but I ended up just feeling really stupid. But I got to wear a slammin' dress.
As I'm sure you've gathered, the 24-hour plays are really time consuming, and since I'd already acted them before, that couldn't be my new thing, and when I got home at 10, I was super tired, I guess my new thing is going to have to be:
82. Jan. 3: I got only 1 hour of sleep in one day.
Technically I was awake for over 36 hours, with about a half-hour of dozing somewhere in there, but that is not contained in one day. I really wanted to stay up for the Paul Rudd SNL that I had already missed once, but all I remember before getting dragged off the couch is Jason Sudeikus doing Joe Biden, and seeing Paul Rudd onstage for 2 seconds. So, I guess that will have to do.
83. Jan. 4: I read The New York times.
I didn't read all of it, but I read from it. I didn't really know how to imply that up there. I read an article about Kristen Wiig, and another one about featured Cast Members on SNL. I prefer their Arts&Entertainment section to the Strib's, because since it's New York, they can cover things that aren't so local. Even though in New York it is local. I also discovered that I love their Style Section. It makes me feel fancy to read.
