Everybody knows it sucks to grow up

New thing I did today:
I brushed my teeth in the shower.

As I was running especially short on time, I decided to kill two birds with one stone. It was almost to the point where I wasn't going to have time to take a shower, but since I hadn't since tuesday, that would have been downright embarrassing...I got up and worked on my project for 2D design, but wasn't completely finished by 10:30, and still needed to go to the bookstore and the print lab before class at 11:15. I didn't make it to the bookstore, and went to the print lab, and everything ended up being fine in class, but lesson in time management, kids: Do the exact opposite of Addie Royce.

Drawing from observation

I'm currently watching: The Office: Season 2. Watch this episode: The Christmas Party (you can add it to your instant queue on Netflix)

Stealing the idea from Entertainment Weekly, I'm creating a Must List. Theme: Online Videos. Now, if you really want to be a stickler, you're gonna call me out on this, because they're not all originally "online" videos. But, whatevs. This is what I've collected for you, to enrich your internet boredom:

1. Demetri Martin: "If I" 1-6
This is a comedy special he did on BBC a couple of years ago. It has 6 parts, so after the first one, just keep going with the next 5. If you've never seen or heard of Demetri Martin, you're missing out. His show Important Things with Demetri Martin on Comedy Central is okay, but his stand-up is awesome. Also check out "Some Jokes" which you can search on YouTube, and listen to the whole track. I encourage you to watch "If I" several times if you enjoy it, it gets better every time.

2. John Mayer Has a TV Show
I've loved John Mayer for I don't know how long. This show is probably not so good if you don't love him, it might come off as obnoxious and unnecessary to some people, which is understandable. It's better that there's only one episode, and parts of it are like "John Mayer is a douche" but other parts are really funny.

3. Big Fat Quiz of the Year- 2007

This will make one person in particular very happy that this is on the list. Featuring Russell Brand and Lily Allen to name a few, it covers international and british pop culture from the year 2007 in the form of a team quiz show. It also has several parts, so keep watching after the first part is finished.

4. Tom Hanks on The Colbert Report

This is Tom Hanks with Steven Colbert making care packages for the troops. Hilarity ensues, including puppies and ice cream.

5. Wizard People, Dear Reader

This was sent to me by my friend Jane, who also loves Harry Potter. It's the Sorcerer's Stone narrated by some guy with a super awkward voice. That's not the best advertisement, but seriously, it's hilarious. Strong language, so if you get annoyed by it after awhile, don't feel bad, it gets to be a bit much. The whole movie is up on YouTube with the narration, but "The Cribbage Match" is the best.

6. So You Cat Wants a Massage?

Lizzie sent this to me, it's just like something that Kristen Wiig would do on SNL, it's great.

7. Aaron Carter getting wasted

The title makes it sound really trashy, but it's hilarious, I think I've probably talked about this video on here before. It's a clip from House of Carters.

8. Andy Jams the Vote

I've posted this on here before, but I love this video, it has to be on this list. It starts two minutes in.

9. Star Wars re-told by someone who's never seen it

Caroline posted this on her movie blog a long time ago, and I think the editing is so great, it makes it even more hilarious.

10. The Landlord

This is from Funny or Die, and Junior year it was all the rage among my friends. Starring Will Ferrell and a baby. Also, check out "Good Cop, Baby Cop" if you like this one.

Wheel

I'm currently listening to: MIKA- Life in Cartoon Motion. You should download: Track 8, "Billy Brown".

Does anyone have an idea for an art project possibility using 14 empty Diet Coke cans? It's just that I have all those cans, and I figured I should think of something creative to do with them before I recycle them all. I have no ideas, really, but someone might. I think there's a recyclable art competition here, that I'm not going to enter regardless, but that gave me the idea. If no one has any ideas, I'll recycle them instead.

I'm really excited, I went to the Menomonie Market Co-op today, which I had been to before, but never bought anything. I got some hummus, greek yogurt, turkey, mustard, tortillas, and biodegradable garbage bags (!!). I'm supes excited about the garbage bags because a.) my trash was just getting ridiculous and it was time to take it out, but I misplaced the plastic bags I got from MarketPlace foods (I forgot my reusable bags) and therefor couldn't take out my garbage. And it was gross, I'm never letting it get this bad ever ever again, and b.) they're biodegradable. Maybe it's making up for not going to Greensense, but I'm super into eco-friendly right now. As we all should be...., and, c.) not to mention my room kind of smells now (because of the trash...), so I'm going to get some Febreeze asap. That's probably a little too much information, but, along with other folks, I appreciate candor. So needless to say, I had a wrap for lunch, along with hummus and pita chips, and a banana. I'm trying to eat up the produce I got a week ago at Kwik Trip so I can get some organic fruits. If any of you saw my status on Facebook, Kwik Trip apples are nothing to write home about. I've also been trying to eat up a lot of the food I got at MarketPlace foods last week that was super un-healthy. It's probably not a good idea to eat it all up in one week, but I feel guilty and I wanted to get rid of it, and never make that mistake again. If I MUST eat in my room, I want to eat healthier. Plus Cup O Noodles only keeps you full for so long. Ideally, I'll start eating in the commons more often, but lately I've been an idiot about time management, so I haven't really given myself a chance to eat in there much.

IT IS YOUR BIRTHDAY.

New thing that I did yesterday:
Did dishes in a dorm hall sink. I really wish I hadn't let it get so far. I only did them because I didn't have enough dishes to eat lunch in my room, which I needed to do because I was running short on time, but I spent my whole morning break doing my dishes. All my silverware, and a bowl, two plates and 4 cups. And it was disgusting. I had to make two trips, and I didn't have a bin, so I need to get one of those. I'm..kind of a snob when it comes to dishes, and I will often be a little more resistant to use dishes that I washed myself, because I don't trust myself. So, I might bring some dishes home to do in the dishwasher.

Feeeeel the Swayze

I first started loving Patrick Swayze when I watched the mini-series North and South five years ago (which is, to date, my favorite mini-series EVER). He played Orry Main, and he had a terrible mullet. He was an amazing novelty among my friends and I, and he became a legend. One such scenario I made up is that I had him locked in shackles in my closet, and had to take away his food and shower tokens, because he was abusing them, and that he wouldn't stop tap dancing, and that he was being really devious and talking to my friends and saying ridiculous things. Oh, poor Patrick. I abused him so in my scenarios, but he was still awesome.
Still not convinced? Track down his E! True Hollywood Story. Emily and I can both tell you it was absolutely awesome.

The unexamined life is not worth living, man.

Well, here's another first if you could call it that: My roommate withdrew from college, so I'm now roommateless for awhile. Just when I was getting excited about living with another person, it's back to being a lonesome dove, once again.
Pros and Cons:
Pro: I can do whatever I want.
Con: I'll probably end up staying up too late because I don't have to worry about disturbing anyone.
Pro: I can leave homework to the last minute and stay up doing it, because it's my room, and I don't have to worry about disturbing anyone.
Con: I can leave homework to the last minute and stay up doing it, because it's my room, and I don't have to worry about disturbing anyone.
Pro: I don't have to worry about what TV shows I watch
Con: She took her nice TV, enter the one from my room at home
Pro: I can be as messy as I want
Con: I can be as messy as I want.

As you can see, it's bittersweet, but I'll survive. As soon as the room freeze is over, I may get a new roommate, but I may not. More likely I will, but I don't really care anyway it works out, just as long as I never have to move rooms, which Emily assures me won't happen.

I'm debating about whether or not to go to the first greensense meeting tonight. I was planning on joining, but now that I think about it, I mean, really think about it, I don't want to take too much on my plate this very second. I still have shaz loads of homework coming at me from all angles, but we'll see. It also helps if I can get someone to go with me. I may try and sucker someone into going with me, just soes I can scope it out.

More later.

Look down upon me Jesus, you gotta help me make a stand

Well, in the end, I turned out to be the worst blogger ever. And we all know it, so getting that out of the way, I will explain myself a little.

I think everyone has noticed that I have not updated for a really long time, and, more importantly, have not kept an updated list of my new things. So I think it's time to finally admit I failed. I'm willing to admit it, but I'm not happy about it. It was an ambitious goal, and I've thought about it and decided that I will try again in four years once I've graduated college (provided I graduate in four years). I made it, eight months I think, something around there. Not to say that all this time I haven't been updating I haven't been doing new things, I have, for the most part. At a certain point I thought, who am I kidding? and stopped making a conscious effort.

That being said, I will be posting a list of most of the interesting things I did during my blogging hiatus, and hopefully that will satisfy a few of you a little bit. I'm actually lucky that on this first attempt at a year of new things, I didn't really do anything too awesome. In other words, there should still be some great things for me two do, come round two.

However, I will keep blogging, (Now that I don't have to have a precedent for blogging, the task will seem less daunting). I plan to blog about anything I want, with a tentative lean towards pop culture and my college life. I plan to blog about any new things that crop up while I'm here at college, and so everyone can feel informed about how I'm doing. The pop culture bit is because anyone who knows me knows that I love pop culture, and if I feel like I want to write about it, I don't want it to come as a surprise to anybody.

So here's a list of the new things I've done so far in college:
-Moved in to college
-Went to a college class
-Went to the bottoms in dunn county
-Went to Campus Crusade
-Went to Out at Stout (the gsa group-- call me crazy, but I miss diversity here, and I needed a fix)
-Other college-y things. You know...ate cup o noodles for dinner, took a shower in a dorm hall, etc.

Nothing too out of the ordinary there.

I'll post later about some highlights about my time here. They were few and far between at first, but now I'm really starting to enjoy myself.

Rushmore

199. May 9: I went to Prom.

As I didn't get to go last year, because I was watching Emily graduate again. We all know what the dress looked like, and I went in a group of myself, Tianna, Lizzie, Jane, Mari, Abby, Stella, Rachel, Molly, and Lura. We went to Ghandi Mahal for dinner, which was Indian food. I had never been there before. Then we went off to Prom which was at the Radisson by the U. It was really fun, but really hot, and sweaty, and I was wearing 4 inch heels...Bad choice. But the only choice I had. Then we all slept over at Molly's dad's house afterwards, and Jane and I could not stop laughing for some reason. Mostly I think because we were talking about Smokey so much, and we got some good quotes out of that. Specifically: "Smokey is just so beautiful" "Yeah, Smokey is luxurious and beautiful, but he can be such a big butt head sometimes." and "You guys. I HONESTLY think, that my cat Smokey-- is GAY." I don't know why I used so much emphasis when I said that, but that was the beauty of it. Anyways, that was prom. It was fun. Not that great of music. And it was really hot, as I said. But yeah.

Half past 12

198. May 8: I laid out an article for newspaper.

This is the last newspaper related new thing, I swear. We put a May Day article on the back page, which is my "section" so I laid it out.

Cabin 19

197. May 7: I ate at Stella's fish Cafe.

It was Caroline's birthday wish. I was thinking about getting muscles, but was advised against it, since I had expressed how hungry I was, and let's be honest, we have no idea if I was going to like them. So that was my new thing that day. I did, however, get the most amazing Alfredo pasta with Chicken and Sausage. Because, you see I'm not very into fish.. But it was very very good.

Photo Booth

196. May 6: I officially made the switch over to the morning shower.

And I've never looked back. It was a fantastic choice. It get's me up earlier, (in a good way) and it keeps me feeling fresher the whole day. Although, I don't like going to school with wet hair, that's something I don't have to worry about now (because by the time I'm writing this, I'm already out of school...). But, anyways. Yeah, this was a good one.

Do the Right Thing

No one can deny that this has gotten absolutely ridonkulous. I was not cut out for regular blogging, and it shows.

195. May. 5: I saw Elton John in concert.

a.k.a. Sir Reg, Reggie, Reginald Dwight, Reggie D, Sir Elton, the list goes on.

He and Billy Joel were on tour together again, but I've already seen Billy Joel before, so that couldn't be my something new. It was such a great concert. They were both really good. But I'd have to say that Mr. Joel was better, because he just seriously was. Reg was a little winded, I could tell. I'm told it's because he kicked the sauce. Either way, it was a great concert, and I got a awesome concert t-shirt out of it. Concert t-shirts are crack to me. There one of the best parts of a concert, I'd say. They played mostly all of my favorite songs. They played for a little while in the beginning, and then Reg came out by his self, and played for about an hour, and then Mr. Joel came out and did the same, and then they came back together. But there was this intense fight going on a couple rows ahead of us. There was this annoying drunk woman sitting down there, and she was dancing really abnoxiously and getting in this one guys way, and he yelled at her, and then he complained to her, I swear, like 2 ft. tall boyfriend, and he got all antsy and offended, and he threw down a fist a cuffs. Long story short, the boyfriend got the complainer guy kicked out. I wanted to set the stupid 2 ft. boyfriend on fire, I mean really. Who get's in a drunken fight in the upper deck of a Billy Joel concert? Even I think that's lame.

Chewing Gum

This seems cheap, I know, but I will update tomorrow when I have time to fit it all in. And by tomorrow, I guess I mean Friday. Okay, Friday, everything will be updated. So so so so so sorry for the delay.

Jim, take New Year's away from Stanley

New Poll!

Water, water everywhere, but not a drop to drink

Emily wants me to post a picture of my prom dress which I purchase tonight. It was super difficult, I was being so indecisive. It was between this one and another super flattering one, but I felt like this one was a little less common, and certainly not glitzy, which is what I definitely did not want:

And yes, that is a slit on the side. I also compromised on the price. This one was $100 more expensive than the other one, but I'm going to pay for half, because I really felt like I had to have it. I absolutely love it, I think it's so elegant. And since it's not season specific, hopefully I can wear it to any other formals I might go to. Plus, my mother points out that it's pretty timeless, and it would be cute at a cocktail length too, if I would ever want to shorten it. Everybody has to weigh in on their opinion. In the dressing room I took pictures of it on my phone and sent them off to Jessica, because I trust her opinion the most.

Teen Wolf Too

194. I made crepes. (As well as had a complete French, and American desserts alike baking day.)

For a french project, we had to do a french cooking video, so we call chose desserts. There were four of us, Meera made chocolate truffles, Maya made Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies, Tianna made Chocolate Mousse, and I made crepes. I chose the easiest recipe possible, because let's be honest, I'm not a hard worker in the kitchen. Everything went really smoothly, except for a little burnt chocolate scare in the microwave. But we aired everything out. Completely in my kitchen, so I should have been freaking out about the mess, but it wasn't so bad. I finally found friends who respectthe kitchen rules, and kind of already know them on a sub-concious level! Perfect. Although, if I didn't have a dishwasher, I don't know what I'd do. There was more caked on chocolate than my kitchen has ever seen, remodeled, or otherwise. And everything turned out really delicious, too. Even though I don't like crepes, they tasted pretty standard, and I stuffed them with some good fruit and other foods.

The Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies

The Chocolate Truffles

The Crepes

The Chocolate Mousse in tumblers

Eating our meal

The sink after it was all done, which I got to clean up! So...enjoyable..

I'm just really proud of my hard work, I need to display it.

Angry Young Man

193. May 3: I attended a baby shower.

This one is kind of a cop-out, since it was at my house for my cousin, but it still counts. I've only ever been to bridal shower, in terms of showers. If I've ever been to a baby shower, I wouldn't know it, and I don't remember. It was nice and quaint, and dainty, I suppose. Just ladies. I didn't exactly excel at the games like I thought I might. So...that was disappointing. There were good desserts though. Anyway, there's not a whole lot to say about that. I think I prefer bridal showers. They're more exciting.

ALL IN ZE BOX

192. May 2: I had my last piano recital.

This is also not what I wanted to do for this day, but I got busy later on, and it slipped my mind to do anything more legit. Emily had suggested this one when we were originally making my list, but I figured I'd just do something else this day. Oh well. I played Scenes from an Italian Restaurant, sans the Ballad of Brenda and Eddie. It was still nine pages though, don't worry. I didn't end up using the music though, which was a risky choice, but it was impossible to read that far across. I hated the piano I had to play on, it was not broken in enough, unlike the one at home you can just pound on. So it sounded a little muffled, and it was too fast, and I was too nervous, but I think it could have been worse, so I'll be thankful for that. Now, I need to learn the whole songs, plus my favorites from that book.

And SPEAKING of Billy Joel, I finally got Billy Joel and Elton John tickets! Tuesday, May 5th, at the Excel. I'm so excited, especially since it will be after my AP Stat Exam, I'll just be able to unwind. Too bad this is production week for newspaper, I would really be able to enjoy myself. I'm so very very excited. I'm not sure who I'm more excited about, because Billy Joel is my favorite ever, and of the two as well, but I love me some Reg, and I've never seen him before in concert. I'm beside myself. They had better have great concert t-shirts.

The Entertainer

191. May 1: I ate Le Cordon Bleu.

Obv not the one in France...the one out here in the suburbs. We had a french field trip out there for a three-course meal. It was so delicious. I think I was the only one at our table of eight to clean my plate thoroughly after each course. Although, let's be honest I was with some pretty picky eaters. For the first course we has a spinach salad with oil dressing over sauteed onions, diced tomatos, bleu cheese, and thick crispy bacon bits. It all went so well together, it was great, even though I don't like onions or tomatos, I thought I'd give it a shot, the chef knows what he's doing putting all these ingredients together. The second course was mediterranean herbed roasted chicken over polenta, ratatouille, and a butter herb sauce. It was so good, I wiped my plate clean. Then we had chocolate peanut butter mousse with citrus coulis for dessert. And we had little petit fours in between. There was a little baclava, lemon bar, cookie, trifle of sorts, and a couple of other things. I highly suggest anyone who likes french food to go there, it was so good. I think they just take people, or groups. At least there was this woman by herself, so I think it's kind of an open restaurant type thing.

This is the day that we installed our new iMac as well. It's soooo nice, I love it. I'm used to having a pc, but I'll get used to this very quickly. I hate to brag, but we've never had the best of anything in terms of technology, so this is the one and only time I get to brag about something we have. The keyboard is tiny, so it's taken some adjusting to, especially since it's similar to laptop keyboards, which I'm not fond of, but it's very fun to type on now. It's also finally really great to watch Lost on, which was absolute crap before. Something got screwed up with my iTunes, but I'll probably be able to figure that out.

The Final Countdown

190. Apr. 29: I watched the HBO documentary, "Thin" about anorexia.

I just happened to watch this when our newspaper meeting went south. Believe me, this wasn't what I wanted for my new thing. I tried to balance a book on my chin, but let me tell you, that is a lot harder than you think! So, I'm gonna work hard on that, and save it for a rainy day. But anyway, this documentary was educational, even though I'd say I already know a fair bit about anorexia and eating disorders alike. But you never realize how much of an illness these things are, until you hear first hand what these women have to say. Because they think it's so attractive, they don't see how unhealthy it is. I can't imagine that being me. I love eating too much to ever get to that level. I'd much rather be healthy than super thin.

You could distinguish Miles from Coltrane

189. I explained the mechanics of 'that's what she said' to someone.

That someone was none other than Ms. Matera. We were talking about assigning editors in passing, and she quietly said "This is gonna be so hard" and I said "That's what she said." Well, Kayla and Molly thought it was pretty funny, but Ms. Matera had never really heard that joke before (I know, how is that possible?) We had to explain why it made sense, and why technically as females we shouldn't be able to use it, but we do anyway. It was a whole culture education session. I'm so happy to spread the love on the that's what she said front.

Bodies are where you find them

As I was Hula Hooping in front of the television, with Dudesie sitting there, I asked him how many push-ups he thought I could do. Like, non-girly man push-ups. He rolled his eyes and said 5, and I said I could do more, and then he challenged me to do ten. So I said I could do more than ten, and:

188. Apr. 27: I did more than ten real official push-ups.

More than ten meaning, 11, which still counts. What classifies as a real official push-up? Probably anything BUT the push-ups I did for my fitness test in gym Sophomore year, of which I think I did 24. I have little to no upper body strength, and I was very red afterward. Anybody who is not in shape, like myself, I challenge you to try it, because they are not easy at all.

So then I told Dudesie that after my 12-week plan is over, I'll do over 30 real push-ups. He doesn't really think i can do it, though. We'll see.

Inside Wants Out

187. Apr. 26: I am officially embarking on a "12-week plan"

Some of you, meaning probably only Emily, if even, might remember that I had this 12-week plan that I was going to do starting in the fall, and we can all guess how that panned out. I never mapped it out, and I kept putting it off for "another week." What is a 12-week plan you ask? I want to be in shape, and improve my quality of life. By my definition, getting in shape means I can run more than a mile at a time (at least) and have much better endurance overall. Quality of life to me means that I make better choices health wise, and I feel better all the time. I first started thinking about initiating this for myself when I was coming to the realization that I would probably collapse of exhaustion if I even attempted a 5k, or would not be able to complete my swim across and back the lake this year at the cabin. That was the fitness portion of my realization. Then I also realized my eating habits need to shape up after having 3 days of indulging in ice cream treats in a row (cone at Ben & Jerry's, medium Heath blizzard at DQ, Like it Cake Batter Ice Cream with Heath at Coldstone...). This, of course, was preceded by an equally indulgent weekend of terribly greasy foods: Chicken Strips and Fries at a Bar at Stout, Fried Chicken Bacon Swiss sandwich and Curly Fries at Arby's, Bacon Cheeseburger, Fries, and a whole Heath Malt at the Malt Shop, and an appetizer platter, steak, potatoes, and carrot cake at the Chanhassen. Take comfort in the fact that I'm sure your weekend didn't resemble mine, in any sense.

So, I'll reiterate, I don't think I'm fat by any stretch of the imagination, but being healthier would be much better for me, I'm sure. And c'mon, I'm a teenage girl, if I lose a few pounds, I won't complain.

In my Merlin Sleep

186. Apr. 25: I tried Tab soda.

Which is like the exact same thing as Coke, let me tell you. It has a little bit of a weirder flavor, so I don't think I would ever make the switch over, but it's a fair substitute. I like the can, too.

The Gentle Art of Listening

Much like yesterday, I don't like this one, and it's similar to one I've done before:

185. Apr. 24: I was the only person to show up to class.

Government. Nobody showed up to Government. It was just me and the Bergie Berr hanging out for awhile, and then I had to take a stupid pop quiz even though I was the ONLY one there. Such a cheap rip-off. I know for a fact 3 people were skipping class, and Mari was in Chicago, so she had a good excuse, but seriously people. No wonder everyone in that class is a lame excuse for a high school student. Seriously, I'm talking idiots.

Gentleman's Quarterly

Thursday is my busy day, and so as a result of not budgeting my free time wisely, my new thing ended up being:

184. Apr. 23: I payed to see a Zac Efron movie a second time.

And thoroughly enjoyed it. I have no idea why, I just totally love that movie. It weirds me out a bit, but I'm entitled to like crap, aren't I?

To thine ownself, be true

183. I wrote a movie review that was not for the Southerner.

My new thing tonight was going to be doing Tai Chi, but it got canceled, so I'm using this one. You all read it, unless you didn't, it was the 17 Again review. It actually didn't take as long as my Southerner ones, which usually take over an hour. Maybe there's something to that..

American History X

182. Apr. 21: I participated in Ben and Jerry's free cone day.

I tried this once before, but I got there too late, and no way am I paying for ice cream that I don't really want. So, I went again this year, and got my strawberry kiwi cone. I went with Jessica and Caroline, and they both got some sort of Chocolate Fudge Brownie flavor. I've decided that Ben and Jerry's is overrated, it's not THAT great. I def prefer Coldstone, or Dairy Queen.

I'd also like to mention that even though I don't usually use a whole lot of pictures anyway, I've been having some technical difficulties, so that's why there haven't been any lately.

Pour Vous

181. Apr. 20: I read fitness magazine.

Some people might have wanted me to get high on this day, because it was 4/20, but sorry, I did not.

I really like reading articles about fitness and nutrition, difficult as it may seem to believe, it's true. For some reason I never wanted to read it, but Caroline has a subscription so I took the newest copy, and read through it. It's pretty informative, I'd say. But not necessary to get the best health articles. There are more tid-bits in there than anything. If you want a good health article, read Glamour, they have a great health and fitness section.

9 1/2 Weeks

180. Apr. 19: I joined Twitter.

As soon as everyone started talking about Twitter, I just had no idea what it was. I still think it's really pointless, and like MySpace, if I weren't doing new things, I probably wouldn't have joined, but we'll see how well I end up liking it. My "page" I guess I don't really know what it's supposed to be called is twitter.com/AddieBelle. Follow me if you have one, but I can guarantee it won't be a whole lot of anything. So, we'll see if this catches on for me as much as Facebook and blogging. Celebrities seem to like it a whole lot. I'm convinced it's just a fad, but we'll see if I'm right.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band

179. Apr. 18: I went to the Chanhassen Dinner Theater sans Dudesie.

To get this right out of the way, yes I did go twice in one week which I was really excited about. I didn't get a chance to see "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," and Emily went on another occasion, so Dudesie suggested I go with a group of my friends, so I took Jessica, Tianna, and Lizzie out there. They were pretty impressed with my hook-ups, I must say. I'm often impressed with myself. The show was good. I mean, well done, but I guess I'm not really a huge fan of that musical. All in all, fun experience, but I think I like going with Dudesie better, because I just feel much more VIP, if you will.

Seventeen Magazine

On the same day I went to Stout, I also went straight to Emily's school on my way back to the cities, and a couple of hours later, we went to go see 17 Again, which I surprised myself for actually wanting to see. Emily asked if I could write a review of it, even if it's not for the Southerner, and I said sure, so I'm gonna give my best go.

--

"17 Again" has many messages: 1. Don't get your girlfriend pregnant, 2. Be nice to the nerdy kid, 3. Zac Efron can apparently do something other than a musical, 4. And don't wait too long, or he'll turn into Matthew Perry (yeah right..)

Mike O'Donnell (Perry) has had to live his life like he never wanted. In a dead end job, getting a divorce, and barely knowing his kids. He get's thrown through some sort of time warp pool, and turns 17, again. Now, a young Mike (Efron) must pose as a new high school student, try to right all his wrongs with his wife (Leslie Mann), get to know his children, and in his spare time show off his killer basketball skills (Troy Bolton, anyone?)

The film relies heavily on comedy brought in by Mike's best friend, Ned (Thomas Lennon). Lennon steals every scene he's in, whether he's being over the top, or just standing there. And speaking of comedy, who know Zac Efron was funny? You did, if you watched him host "Saturday Night Live," but I now wonder if he suddenly lost the ability to sing and dance impecibly, he might be a perfect little comedic actor.

Now to put it simply, for what it is, it's an enjoyable film. Teenage comedies do not have to be directed well, or even be scripted well, which makes "17 Again" fit the bill. But as much as it is a pure Zac Efron guilty pleasure, it's a funny, enjoyable way to throw away your friday night, and to sit back and relax, knowing that dreamy Zac won't really turn into Matthew Perry. But one could only hope he'd still be as humorous.

--

This review may not reflect it, but I actually really liked it, surprising even myself. I thought it was funny, but it was kind of lame, and as I said, poorly directed. I think I'm seeing it again tomorrow night again. But there's a specific audience for it, as I'm sure you can gather, so know thine own self.

to who it may concern....

178. Apr. 17: I visited Stout for the first time.

You might be thinking I'm crazy for accepting admission at a school I've never even been to before, but it was a leap of faith, and I think it will probably pay off. It was a very nice campus, and I actually like the little main street right around the corner. The buildings are nicer than Eau Claire's, Menomonie is a nice place, there's a nice landscape, there are nice amenities, like a fitness center, which you have to pay for, but it's not terribly expensive, as well as many other things. I have a feeling it will work out pretty well.

All the King's Horses and All the King's Men

177. Apr. 16: I watched an episode of "The French Chef" with Julia Child.

She has a very commanding personality, and she does whatever she wants. I'm looking forward to Julie and Julia, because I want to know more about her. I, for instance, knew she was this famous chef who was really cool and stuff, but I didn't realize that she like invented the cooking show. Which, by the way, not as appealing in black and white. She was making a bouillabaisse and it did not look too delicious, the combination of fish shaz everywhere, and it being in black and white.

I also used a smartboard for the first time this day, but I decided to not make that one my new thing. They are really awesome though. I now have two classes that have them, and they're just really great, and I can tell teachers enjoy teaching more with them. Something to think about all you teachers out there...

Higher Education

176. Apr. 15: I ate a roast beef au jus sandwich.

It wasn't that great, I would never choose to have one just on my own, and it didn't look that appealing. If you like them, that's great, but I found out they're not for me.

SOUTHERNER

175. Apr. 14: I saw a play in the Fireside theater at Chanhassen Dinner Theaters.

I always thought that the mainstage was the only dinner theater among the bunch, but they have you eat beforehand, and then they usher you in to the theater- either the fireside or the playhouse. Always...Patsy Cline was showing, and I've never really listened to Patsy Cline, but from what I have heard, the woman who was playing her was truly spot on. If you like her, see it. I will mention that I was probably one of 5 people under the age of 50. It was a nice way to mix things up, I would go back and see other shows in the auxilary theaters again. But my heart belongs to the mainstage.

18 Kids and Counting...

So terribly similar to two other new things...

174. Apr. 13: I completed 16 online health assignments in one day.

I really wanted to get it done all in that day, but I was also doing some laundry. I finished up the quarter in three days ultimately, but now I only have a month to do Quarters 1 & 2 of Health 2. It's gonna be a push.

Anywhere I Lay My Head

173. Apr. 12: I made it through lent to Easter having given up all pop.

Last year, as I have mentioned before, I gave up Diet Coke and Lays Regular Potato chips, and that was my first time successfully completing lent. Although some still want to argue with me about it. But I was so proud of myself, because I had to exercise a lot of willpower. I have since started to drink pop again, but I have cut down considerably. One can a day, although I have already managed to exceed that a couple of times. It got me thinking that I might be able to give pop up for New Year's next year, but that's a big IF.

Heart of Darkness

172. Apr. 11: I completely cleaned my room top to bottom in less than two hours.

Which includes vacuuming, dusting, throwing crap away, doing laundry, organizing my closet, organizing my bookshelf. Really thoroughly, like behind furniture for vacuuming. This never happens, not even when I take a week. And, it's still clean! Let's see how long this lasts..

Another Nail in My Heart

171. Apr. 10: I wore my elephant earings.

This one was stupid, but legit, nonetheless. On the sister shopping day in Woodbury, we went to Claires and I got the buy 2 get 1 free deal, so I got Dinosaurs, Elephants, and Tree earings. Dinosaurs might be a little too hip for me, but Emily couldn't stand the idea of me not getting them.

FineTune

170. Apr. 9: I used an exercise ball.

It is just a coincidence that there have been more than a few exercise related new things. Caroline and I were visiting Emily for lunch, and she has this exercise ball in her room, which I've always only ever sat on, and not used. But then I decided since I had been doing some exercises days previous, I was feeling a little more "adventurous." It didn't work out like I had thought it might:

My first attempt at an exercise ball.

Much as I would love to post the video directly here, I cannot figure out to get it from facebook. I hope that works for everyone. I have since gone back and tried it out again, it worked out a little better this time. Dudesie also tried it but he toppled over. Nothing is hurt. But his pride..

Flavaz 4 Playas

169. Apr. 8: I went to Edinborough Park in Edina.

I'm not entirely sure if I spelled that right. I was babysitting the brothas, and we were there for five hours. FIVE hours. It was ridiculous. It was nice for awhile, I would have liked it if it was around when I was their age. Although..who says it wasn't.. There was an expansive jungle gym area, and bleacher type of stands for parents, and in my case, babysitters. And there was some sort of recreation area, but that was about it. Might have been nice for an hour or two, but they got bored, and I got bored, but I had my book, so I wasn't too worried. It's actually a really nice place for anyone who has kids. If I had kids, I would take them there, for sure.

This is the one and only time I will address my subject line. The last time I was in Florida, we stopped at a grocery store in a strip mall and next door there was a store called Flavaz 4 Playas. I could only wish I was a playa so I could shop there.

Jealous Guy

168. Apr. 7: I did Winsor Pilates.

It's supposedly like this big deal pilates work-out developed by Mari Winsor, who is the last person I want to model my body after, for sure. But anyways, it has this ridonk sculpting circle, and it looks easy, but it is challenging. But as I said, it's supposedly really effective. I just don't have the energy to see if that's true or not. Caroline will attest, I looked really ridiculous, and I couldn't stop laughing. Everything's funnier when you're doing pilates. I should have had her take a picture, what was I thinking?

Truth sits upon the lips of dying men

167. Apr. 6: I facebook chatted.

I wanted to save this one for a day that I was super busy, but Emily started chatting with me, and I couldn't resist. She was apparently bored at school, or something of that nature. It was a pretty lengthy conversation. It was a pretty foreign concept at the time, but now I've done it a couple of other times, and it's like AIM, only not as annoying.

This day I also went to go see Sunshine Cleaning with Meera. It was pretty good, I liked it. It was a little depressing, but honestly, what could I have expected? Then we drove to Sebastian Joe's so she could get some ice cream, and we walked around. It was nice, because that's such a nice neighborhood.

The Summer of '69

166. Apr. 5: I sat all alone in the middle of the congregation at church.

Which I never do, obviously because then it wouldn't be my new thing, I usually sit in the back, or if nothing else, with someone. This time I didn't wait around for anyone to show up, which they did later, and sat in the back, but I marched to the middle of the room, and sat by myself. It was very nice, and I honestly hate when people distract me a whole lot.

The Lovers, the Dreamers and Me

165: Apr. 4: I went to a Gary Rue concert at Uncle Brad and Aunt Rosa's house.

They're the cool Aunt and Uncle who are artists and live in Minneapolis, and are friends with local musicians and host concerts at their house often. Well, if there ever has been a Gary Rue concert there, I haven't been to one. I hesitated to go at first, but Emily and Caroline were going to be there, as well as other family. It was good, there was food afterward, which was especially nice, because I hadn't eaten at all.

Drown the Clown

164. Apr. 3: I tried things on in a store just for the fun of it.

Normally, I will just kind of pass by items that I don't really see myself buying, or perhaps am not in the financial situation to buy (J. Crew, anyone?) and so I don't really ever try anything on that I know I will not buy. But as I was at the Gap with Caroline and Emily, as a sister day we were having, they were both trying things on, and I thought, what the heck, because trying stuff on is fun. I don't know why I don't do it more often, even when, as I say, I have no intention of buying. I suppose I want to eliminate as much work for the employees as possible. But anyways, so I tried on some jeans, that fit really really well, by the way, I will be going back to buy them, and then I tried on a dress, that I would have never in a million years thought I would try on, let alone buy. Which I ended up doing, I needed an Easter dress. It's a strapless hot pink a-line dress, and it's adorable. So I was so glad that I made this my new thing, because otherwise, I would have never bought the dress. I will FOR SURE being doing this more often.

The reason I was at the Gap, as I mentioned, was that I was having a sister day with Caroline and Emily, because Emily was on the tail-end of her spring break, and I was just starting mine. And so we went to target, and I tried on some dresses there too, which were a little too ridiculous for words. And then we went to Woodbury Cafe for lunch, and I got a mondo burger with fries, and then we went to Woodbury lakes, where the gap was. We went back to Emily's house so she could look for some of Josh's old sunglasses for Caroline, and then I ended up getting some glasses from her as well, and I was complaining the whole day about how I didn't have a spring purse, so Emily gave my one of her old ones, and she also gave me a shirt. It was just like a little sister swap get together. Then we went out for some Jamba, and brought one over to Josh's house, where we proceeded to play Wii with Izabell. All good fun.

I must mention, that I was OBSESSED with Friends this week. I just suddenly got in the mood to watch some, and since I had Season 10 on DVD, I just watched a few episodes, and then I eventually watched the whole season, and then, since I still had Season 5 on loan from Lizzie, I watched some of that too. Target put a price cut on all of the seasons, so I bought 6 and 7 as well. I have yet to buy 8 and 9, but I'll get there. I don't think anyone in my house was too happy with me during this explosion I had going on over here.

Double Indemnity

163. Apr. 2: I bought an item of make-up without doing any research beforehand, instead solely on hype.

And it was Lash Stiletto by Maybelline. Everybody is probably like "Oh, but this is lame." BUT, I seriously cannot buy any make up without first doing research, because what if I buy something that's crap, and I just wasted a ton of money on it? Economics teaches us that that is called a sunk cost, but I don't care. So, I took a leap with this one, and it payed off, because this stuff is fabulous. It might be my first double mascara purchase, meaning I have never been satisfied enough with an individual brand to waste my money on it twice. I would recommend it to anyone who wears mascara.

We've come too far to leave it all behind

162. Apr. 1: I downloaded a Rihanna song on iTunes.

This was a treat to myself after having finally getting our computer fixed so we could download the new iTunes, meaning we could actually download songs. Which we couldn't before. For some reason, ever since hearing it in a video that Molly made, I've liked the song "Shut up and drive." It's pretty stupid, but it's catchy. But I had been wanting to download it since I heard it again in I Love You Man, but as I mentioned, stupid downloading restrictions kept me from it.

Let us go then, You and I

161. Mar. 31: I made a prank for April Fool's.

Even though we'll all agree that April Fool's was the next day, I made up the prank during the day, and literally created the material I needed for it. I won't say what it was, because the prank is still going on, I'm not sure when we're going to tell the person who it's on that it's not real. When it's all out in the open, I'll post what I did. And they def fell for it. I've never been a good "fooler." And we got a lot of people in on it.

Charge of the Light Brigade

160. Mar. 30: I watched a documentary on Princess Margaret.

I didn't know the Queen had a sister, so that was news to me. I became engaged because there was this intro that made it seem really juicy, and I wanted to know the dirt on the Royal family. But it totally wasn't, it was about her relationship with Peter Townsend, and how it was supes scandalous, and then they didn't get married anyway. Educational!

Let's make the best of the situation, before I finally go insane

159. Mar. 29: I filled in for Katie Batz with warming up the little kids with music on Sunday mornings at church.

As I mentioned it's Katie's thing, but she was out of town, and asked if I would do it, and so I did. The kids were cute, if not rambunctious. It was only like ten minutes. And then I did it again this week, because she was out of town again. They were a little more wild this time. Seems like the kind of thing I would be too shy to do, even though it's just little kids. Even though I've already done it "again" I would do it again.

Take me down alleys where the murders are done

158. Mar. 28: I performed a Psychology experiment.

Mari and I did an experiment on our friends testing confidence levels. We gave them a crossword puzzle labeled either easy, or difficult, and let them work on it while we "set up the experiment." What we didn't tell them was that both the puzzles were the same level, and what they thought was easy was really difficult. So our point was to shatter, or boost, their confidence level, depending on the puzzle they chose. Then we'd give them the Pepsi Challenge, but they didn't pick their favorite, they had to tell us which one was Pepsi. Then they'd take a survey afterwards rating how confident they were that they chose correctly. We hypothesized that the easy puzzlers would have lower confidence, and difficult puzzlers would have regular, to high confidence. And we were right. Very interesting experiment, I thought.

They're so spaced out

157. Mar. 27: I tried the 10 calorie Vitamin Water.

Hear me out. I've been a little in a protest of Vitamin water ever since I realized that it's not as healthy as you'd believe. Sure, it's got all those vitamins. But it's got a ton of calories per bottle. And I don't like to drink high calorie drinks. I mean, I might as well eat a bowl of chips at that rate. Anyways, so I tried the Lemonade flavor, because I've always been fond of it, and it tasted fine. A little less sweet, which I'm always a fan of. So, I'd recommend that anyone who loves Vitamin Water, switch off to the 10 calorie version. Which is actually 25 for the whole bottle, but not that bad.

The Eye of the Tiger

Wow, it's been a long time. Seriously, we all know me promising it won't happen again won't do anything.

156. Mar. 26: In protest of the cold weather, I wore my swim suit under my clothes to school.

It felt so nice to put my swim suit on, even though I knew I was not going to be swimming. Although, I was pretty uncomfortable the whole day, I still wore it with pride. If I hadn't forgot to bring my camera to school, I would post a picture, but I did, so I won't.

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

WTF, mates?

155. I completed 7 online health assignments in a day.

This kind of seems like a lot, but it really isn't, especially since they all still need to be graded, as well as some assignments I did earlier this week. Hopefully that will boost my percentage, and get me closer to 70. I'll probably end up doing like 10 assignments tomorrow night, and try to just finish it all up. I'll be happy when I'm completely done with all of this.

Smoke and Mirrors

154. I played "The Wikipedia Game"

Molly and I were bored in the Mac Lab, adn she said we should play the Wikipedia Game, which I'd never played before. So what you do is go to Wikipedia, select a word, or thing, I suppose, and then go to a random article, and see who can get to the page with the word on it first without typing anything. So, you can only use the links on the pages. I had a hard time, I lost both times we played. The words were Spinach and Manatee. I'm not entirely convinced that Molly didn't just make up that game. We'll see.

Gestalt Theory

Totally out of the blue:

153. Mar. 23: I looked up on Wikipedia, the Hatfield-McCoy fued.

I've never ever known what this is, and nevertheless have used it as a reference point on many occasions. The article happened to be very dry, so I don't feel completely enriched on the subject, but apparently, one of their earliest fueds was over the ownership of a hog, or something of that sort. They later got into many more arguments, involving inter-clan partner stealing, I think. Honestly, I didn't set out to be an expert. And obviously, that didn't happen. I can't even say whether those "facts" up there are correct. I wouldn't suggest you quote me on them-- but I can't stop you from turning this blog into a "learning moment."

The Castle

152. Mar. 22: I payed full price for something at J. Crew.

Love the crew though I certainly do, I do not pay for things full price at what they charge. Heavens, I would depress myself. So, this means I never really get to get things I really like, and it's one of those admire from afar sort of things. So, when I got $65 worth of giftcards towards there for Christmas, I got really excited. But, until now, I hadn't used them. I got a t-shirt, which you can get a lot of mileage out of, and i most certainly can. I would post a picture, but I can't find it on the website. It's white with a gold fish. I reminded me of something you could buy at the lodge at Crow Wing, if J. Crew where making their t-shirts.

The One With All the Other Ones

I'm not really into blogging/doing new things this week. Can you tell?

151. Mar. 21: I went to a state high school basketball game where my team won.

Yeah, we could talk about technicalities, but I was super excited about this. I didn't go to the game two year ago, where the beloved tigers lost to Central, and last year I went and cheered my heart out, but we lost, but this year we won, and I was so happy! Obviously, it's a thing about school pride, and the games are pretty fun, I have to admit. I just wish I would have gone to one during the regular season. Whiiich, totally could have been my new thing one day, but it's too late for that now. So, I'm very proud of the lady tigers. That team is the highlight of our whole school, I assure you.

All's Well That Ends Well

150. Mar. 20: I saw Much Ado About Nothing.

I had a really hard time understanding what was going on at first, because I didn't even know what it was about, and there was somesort of puppet motif in the beginning that I didn't quite understand. And a certain lesser plotline was completely lost on me, because someone who I affectionately refer to as "the crazy kid" (he really is) doesn't know how to speak normally. Like either really loud, shouting, fast, or quiet and fast, or just really messed up. So, I wouldn't say that it was my favorite Shakespeare, but it was pretty good. I probably enjoyed it more because of the people who were the principle actors.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

This one is kind of weird, but I happened to do it, and it happened to be new:

149. Mar. 19: I peeled and sliced an avocado.

Messiest thing ever. I love avocados, but I think I would prefer to have someone else cut them for me. It would yield better results.

Proof that I am not meant to be a caregiver. The flower fell off my plant.

Paul's Case

148. I called 867-5309.

I had the intention of asking for Jenny, but I was greeted by a recording from Jenny herself, and it was really a cheap ruse of an advertisement for Benjamin Franklin Plumbing, or something of the sort. So, alas, I didn't get to make the oldest prank phone call in the book, but I did try. I'm one phone call wiser.

Love is an exploding cigar we willingly smoke

I don't have a whole lot of amazingness to show for myself.

147. Mar. 17: I watched The Real Housewives of New York City on the night it airs.

As in, I've never watched an episode before the night it premieres, only in re-runs. Real Housewives of NYC is my guilty pleasure that I actually don't feel guilty in the slightest for liking. It's not like Housewives of OC or Atlanta. They're really trashy. New York is actually a lot classier. I mean come on, half the season takes place in the Hamptons. I don't mind most of the women on it, either. Except for LuAnn, she is the greatest charlatan to ever walk this earth. But the point is, I don't feel lame for liking it.

This might interest a small crowd. I found it while I was feeling homesick for Crow Wing this afternoon. Beth Gauper wrote it, so obviously it's from the first hand perspective. This warm weather is about the time every year I start to get really antsy..

Zephyr

I was seriously racking my brain for a creative one today, but I just wasn't coming up with any. I know this wasn't really a serious suggestion, but:

146. I created an Amazon wish list.

And they have my blog's interest in mind, too-- they made sure to let me know it was my FIRST Amazon wish list. So far, I added a Billy Joel t-shirt, and season four of Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. I plan to add much, much more.

Fred Jones, pt. 2

145. I planted some little kitchen herbs.

I was at Ikea today with Lizzie and we went to the "Green Room" at my insistence, and I saw little kitchen herb kits, and I've always wanted to do that, so I thought why not? I got Basil, because it's the best thing in the world, and I planted it earlier this evening.

So, I look forward to having some fresh basil in the next 10-12 weeks. That should be enough time to enjoy it, right? I suggest that everyone does this, there's nothing wrong with fresh kitchen herbs. The little plastic kit is only $3.99.

So, as I mentioned I went to Ikea today with Lizzie, and then we decided to go to Target as well, and I did a little looking around, and found a swimsuit that I'll probably get for this year, even though I still have two perfectly good ones from last year still. I don't mind having a lot of variety. It's probably making up for the lack of variety of swim suits in my "youth". Then I looked arond the movie section and made a mental note of all the movies I want to buy. It's a lot.
Then Caroline and I went on a walk after dinner to Washburn Water Tower. We discovered it about a year and a half ago, and now we like to go there from time to time. Meaning, not really enough. It's a nice little walk. It was a good cardio work-out, because it's so hill-y and tangletown-y. Eugh, tangletown..

So, it was a quaint little day, I suppose. Very nice weather, and it's suppose to be 60 tomorrow! Holla. That should be awesome. I'm super excited for this weather. If I hadn't already been listening to Billy Joel, I would totally start now, because warm weather is my Billy Joel cue. It reminds me of the cabin, and gets me all jazzed.

Philadelphia Blades

144. I drank Green Tea.

It was okay, I'm not usually a huge fan of tea. It tasted a lot like straight up Earl Grey. It made me feel kind of sick afterwards, too.

I'm not tired at all right now. Usually after SNL I don't have a huge problem getting to sleep, but I slept till 1 today, so it's gonna be awhile. There's nothing worse than being bored and wide awake.

The Creative Habit

143. I hula hooped for an hour straight.

But it's not just the average hula hoops, it's an excercise one. It's super heavy duty. And it hurts a lot, if you're not used to it. I hadn't used it in like 6 months, so it was awful at first. And then it was fine, but then it hurt, because my skin was dry. I suggest if someone else ever does this make sure you watch something entertaining. I threw on a little season 2 of 21 Jumpstreet. Oh, Officer Tom Hanson...What an ace. Anyways, my skin hurt like mad afterwards, like I'd just been sunburn, and it felt super weird to walk. I'm gonna feel super bruised tomorrow. But it's good excercise. It's actually kind of fun, just not if you do it for an hour. I'll stick to 30 minutes at a time.

On another note, I'm still going strong on giving up pop for lent. I don't know if I've ever made it this far on pop. Last year with Diet Coke and Lays Chips wasn't too bad, but all pop was murder for the first couple of days. I was really tired, and thirsty. But I'm actually enjoying not drinking pop now. But practically every night this week I've had a dream where I'm drinking pop and I start freaking out. Like I have this half drunk can in my hand and I think "how I do I keep letting this happen?"

Also speaking of dreams, I had a dream a few nights ago that I was hanging out with Billy Joel, but it was circa Piano Man, and we dueted on "A Whole New World" because he didn't have anyone for the ladie's part. It was pretty awesome.

It could be worse, I could be alone

142. I recycled with NHS.

Even if you're not in NHS, you can recycle with them, and I kind of always wanted to, because I like recycling, and you get out of class, and I don't what it is, the recyclers always seemed cool for some reason. But it's hard, and the bin is really creaky, and you have to sort out all of the trash that might be in there, and you can't put the newspapers in there, because those get picked up separately, and it's just like distributing for newspaper, if you're not organized, you don't know where anyone has been. So, I don't think I will be doing it again unless they really need people, but now I know, right?

Treasure Mathstorm!

Things I learned this week:
1. Having a dark backround on any website (blog!) that you may have is more eco-friendly because it requires less energy to project. In fact googling twice requires as much energy as it does to heat a cup of tea. I learned that from Seventeen magazine.

So, I guess that should be "thing" I learned this week.

I feel like people are losing interest in this blog. Fast. Besides the obvious 1.) Update more frequently (I'm trying this week, I really am) and 2.) Do cooler stuff (I don't feel like I have to explain myself on this one) what can I do to generate more interest within my, what I'm sure are few, blog followers. I lack creativity for things such as these.

You give your ode to the fall through

141. I ushered at church

I never knew how, and always thought it looked really confusing, so I never really wanted to do it. But, I guess it's pretty easy, so I won't be "scared" to do it anymore. Good for me.

So we stand upon the ledges of our lives with our respective similarities

140. Mar. 10: I mended something.

Specifically: My Dark Knight blanket. There's this piece that's been hanging off and bugging me to no end, so I decided to suck it up and do something about it.

I'm still looking for my hidden talents. Sewing? Not one of them.

I Promise to Love You

139. I clipped coupons.

Pretty self explanatory. My mother, sister and I were going out to buy Caroline some groceries, and I wanted to clip coupons since I'd never done it before, and we saved like 10 bucks because of them. Pretty useful, but I don't think I have to tell anyone that twice.

2001: A Space Odyssey

138. I learned the Greek Alphabet.

Alpha Beta Gamma Delta Epsilon Zeta Eta Theta Iota Kappa Lambda Mu Nu Xi Omicron Pi Rho Sigma Tau Upsilon Phi Chi Psi Omega

Thats not to say that I didn't just copy that down from somewhere, but I did write it from memory, I swear. I recited it to my mother right after I learned it, so she will attest.

It's probably very useful to know the greek alphabet, so I hope I don't forget it at all. I'll have to keep practicing.

Get behind me, Satan!

137. Mar. 7: I watched Raging Bull.

It has always seemed like this great piece of film that I had never seen, but must, because it's one of the greats. And it was great, but not amazing. It was really well directed (though, not as good as Goodfellas) and Robert DeNiro was very good. But not very attractive when he gained 60 pounds. Now, I need to watch Taxi Driver, and I'll be able to tide myself over.

This past week, I've been so obsessed with Indiana Jones, it's crazy. It always seems to come in phases with those movies. It all started when we were talking about optical ilusions in Psychology, and whenever anybody talks about optical illusions, I think about the part near the end of The Last Crusade when Indy has to take the "leap of faith", and then the stone walkway appears beneath his feet, as sort of an optical illusion. Yeah, well so, I've been watching Last Crusade a lot, but I keep falling asleep, but then I was babysitting Sig and Stellan on thursday night, and they wanted to watch it! I didn't even influence them. I'm getting pretty good at getting them to share my tastes. Although, I need'nt be reminded 100 times that "oh yeah, that guy melts at the end, yeah he's the bad guy." Got it. But then I watched Raiders of the Lost Ark yesterday, and then Temple of Doom while I was cleaning my room.

But, as I expected to happen, I'm also really obsessed with Billy Joel, and Movin' Out. I've been trying to perfect Scenes from an Italian Restaurant on the piano like a madman, and I can't stop thinking of how amazing the dancing was in the show. I just think people who aren't fans of Billy Joel are crazy. But I respect their choice...I suppose..

Plan 9 From Outer Space

136. Mar. 6: I saw Movin' Out.

I was so incredibly excited when I heard it was coming to town, you don't even know. I love love love Billy Joel, and I have the Movin' Out piano book, and I've wanted to see it for years. It was so great. It was like a Rock Opera. Think Mamma Mia, but without dialogue. The dancing was really great, and who doesn't just want to listen to Billy Joel songs for like 2 hours? The guy doing Eddie was so incredible, if I were a guy, I would want to dance just like that. Or at all, since I'm not a dancer. As I've said before, I wish I were a dancer, but I'm pretty clumsy. Plus, a lot of their bodies are really stupid looking. I do not want to be skin and bones, or super muscular. Grody. So, I'm going to try and make a point of seeing it again any chance I get. I would reccomend it to any Billy Joel fans. Or anyone, I suppose, but I guess it probably sweetens the deal if you're a fan of Billy Joel.

I also went to Jane's birthday party yesterday, which was fun, but me and Lizzie were 3 hours late, so we didn't get to do paint a plate. The reason we were 3 hours late was because I was going to get a ride with Lizzie, but she was going to go at like 3:30, because she had to work. But then we didn't get to leave until about 4, and the paint a plate place was on Grand Ave., and neither us of knew how to get ther from Turtle, let alone to St. Paul. So, we went all around trying to find Grand, and we eventually found it, but prett much everyone else was done. I'm not blaming Lizzie at all, because neither of us had any idea where we were going, but I was sad that we had to miss some of the party. But then we ate Davanni's, and she opened presents, and we played Tabboo, but then I got picked up to see Movin' Out.

Somewhere in the world right now, it's breakfast time

135. Mar. 5: I watched a video or Ms. Matera doing a quiz bowl type of thing in High School that was broadcasted on T.V. in Kentucky.

So, that seems a little long winded, but all of us on the editorial staff love it when Ms. Matera shows us anything from her personal life, so we absolutely loved it when she brought in a DVD of a quiz bowl type of show she did in high school. She had long hair, and her southern accent was much thicker. It was hilarious. Although, it distracted us from working on the paper...

Oh! Sweet Nuthin'

134. Mar. 4: I woke myself up and went to school on the bus.

Dudesie went to New York that morning, and Mother didn't want to have to wake me up or drive me to school because she had to take him to the airport. If anyone knows me, I cannot wake up. Ever. Especially in time to make the bus. I got there in ample time. I was waiting by the bus stop for about 10 minutes, because I forgot what time it came, and I didn't want to miss it. So, I had to sacrifice breakfast for that one. But in the end, I was very proud of myself.

Foshay Mansion

133. Mar. 3: I ate lunch at the MIA.

I've always wanted to, but I'm often there on field trips, and I don't get chance. It just seems so quaint to eat lunch at a museum. It reminds me of when I was at the Louvre and I got food at one of the cafes there. But anyways, the MIA has D'Amico food which is awesome, so I got a sandwich and San Pelligrino Lemonade. It's one of life's simplest pleasures to feel a little fancy.

Philip Zimbardo

132. Mar. 2: I watched two John Woo films in one day.

We had just started our John Woo unit in Film Studies and we started The Killer, and then when I got home later, I was watching Bravo, and Windtalkers was on, which is also John Woo, so I was like whoa, I should totally watch this. I don't like Windtalkers as much as The Killer. He is much better with his Hong Kong cinema for sure. You can get away with a certain level of cheesiness, that you can't get away with in Hollywood.

Fair enough

131. Mar. 1: I saw a Dudesie original play performed at a different location than DLLC.

Kyrstin Gustafson's church in Forest Lake was doing a production of Elijah and the Prophets. It was pretty dece I suppose, it was only their first time ever doing a play there. They definitely seemed more prepared than we usually are....

My pointless point of view

130. Feb. 28: I waited tables with my good buddy Stellan.

It could have been a disaster, but he was very well behaved. I kind of immediately regretted choosing Stellan because of that, but it wasn't too bad.

Impression, Sunrise

129. Feb. 27: I was a senior in the Church musical.

Emily had suggested this one awhile back, and I decided to use it, because I didn't really get a chance to do anything else new that day.

201 Russian Verbs

Wow, I'm sorry. This is getting bad. I'm sure other people can relate, some times you just get burned out on blogging. It's hard to do it everyday!

128. Feb. 26: I got the highest score in the class on a test.

Alright...granted it was my Psychology class which has, count 'em, 5 people, but it totally still counts. I'm a little awesome at that class, I must say.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind

127. Feb. 25: I took medicine at school.

I was in really bad shape, Mari supplied the medicine. I've never been the type of person to carry medicine with me everywhere, especially not school. I should probably change that.

This marks my first day of giving up pop for lent.
